to really be something special. Coach Rocco has done a tremendous job. For you old hags you know I was really pumped when he was hired :>). Seriously, I hope we keep that guy for a long, long time. This program can be very special on a national scale.
I love the team's attitude - they went to BSU expecting to win. Then backed it up. It really is amazing the how the talent level has improved, facilities, the entire football program.
How cool was it having a televised game from City Stadium? How cool is it to have a QB like Mike Brown?
Man this is fun.

I think the expansion of the facilities, fan base, and talent and depth of our football program is keeping Rocco interested how far he can take us and that's what's keeping him around

maybe.

For those that haven't been around here long enough, HburgFlame is one of the original FlameFans on this site. He goes back to the old Firehouse board that was the foundation for this site when there was just a handful of us frustrated and dreaming of the day when we'd reach the point where we are now. He also brings some personal experience to the table as well.
Are you going to make it over to Pittsburgh this weekend? If not, you need to make it down for Homecoming. I am dying to see the completed stadium renovations in person on October 9th. We're driving up from Texas.

Nice to hear from you man and great job with the site. Unfortunately, I am not heading to Pittsburgh this weekend. I'm actually heading to Virginia this weekend. I'm making a stop by the new bookstore to load up on some new Nike gear. My favorite hat looks like Coach Rocco's!
Homecoming is looking like a real possibility for me making another trip down. I hope maybe we can catch up then! If I can work it out I am going to drive down for JMU week after next. It's only about 2:30 drive for me from here.
If we can stay focused this weekend - the Madison College game is shapng up to be a big one.

It'd be great to catch up at Homecoming. It is tough not to look past this Saturday's game with such a huge matchup coming up right after our trip to Pennsylvania.
I personally refuse to look any further than the next two weeks because these will decide a great deal about what can happen in November much less December.

Agreed brother. One game at a time. That's how this thing will shape up to be a special season for us. I really am loving what I have seen from this bunch so far.

Not that old. Just having a little fun. It shoud be a great game in 2 weeks. Got to get by Bobby Mo first. You guys are pretty good on D - very athletic from what I have seen.

Hey man. Think I would stay gone after a 2-0 start and a road win over an FBS school?
Hope all is well down your way.

So, living in Hburg, how do you feel about JMU. Hate, Love, Neutral?

its all groovy baby.
I'm still amazed after what we all endured w/ KK that this program has turned around so quickly.
Reading some of the other teams opinions of LU being a national powerhouse, etc... freakin' amazing

No worries man. I respect the program at JMU. I coached with a guy (many years ago) on the staff up at JMU (he's the defensive coordinator up there now) so I'm happy for his success.
JMU is well coached and will be a real challenge in a couple of weeks. JMU's D did a great job vs. VT of disrupting the zone blocking schemes - forced Tech into man schemes which they don't do alot of anymore - so the "in-game" adjustment was tough on the fly. JMU also did a good job of keeping Tech's OLmen off the second level (LB's).
I think you got to get the ball on the outside vs. JMU - early in the game. Spread them out. make them play with 6 or 7 in the box and play match ups with the passing game. They went to the pistol on O vs. Tech and defensively LU has to stop the zone read and read option. I think our front can compete in the middle but I am a bit concerned at run support on the corner and I am sure focus will be paid to the Qb keeping off the zone read - they killed Tech in the 4th with that play. Madison seems to be run-oriented to one side of their OL - though I can't remember who the guys are they like to run behind - it seemed to be the left side but I am not sure if they were flipping the OLmen based on calls.
The good news is LU will have 2 games on JMU in 2010 to break down. I think JMU caught Tech with some schemes they weren't ready for.

indeed. imo we have the best defense in the FCS. hopefully the offense will show up week to week though
(I'm looking at you JETS)
also not sure if you will even see the pistol, Mickey really put it in there to surprise Tech (didn't run it once against Morehead).

The only reason you didn't do it against Morehead is because MM didn't want to show it to Tech. I'm sure we'll see it.

yes but I don't think you'll see it exclusively now that LU is going to prepare for it. All I'm saying.

no offense but I'm pretty confident our defense will be just fine that Saturday

It's the offense and not turning the ball over that is my primary concern

Exactly what I thought you'd say.
