When Chris Mayo finished Liberty’s season-opening victory over St. Francis at City Stadium with a team-best 10 tackles, his success mirrored that of another defensive back who last year made a huge impact in his first season as a Flame — Brent Vinson.

It’s no coincidence what the two have in common. Both prepped for their college careers by spending a semester at Fork Union Military Academy, as did massive Liberty nose guard Asa Chapman.

Fork Union and Hargrave are basically football factories. They both turn out very strong D-1 level talent (FCS and FBS mind you) so Im not surprised to see FUMA kids making an immediate impact for us
