Conference games
@ Stony Brook
@ Gardner Webb
@ Charleston Southern
VMI
Coastal Carolina
Presbyterian

non-conference
@ NC State
Robert Morriss
JMU

That leaves 2 openings. Lang mentioned W&M and ODU as possibilities.

Good looking schedule so far. It would be ideal if we could add either W&M or ODU and then throw in a weak FCS (St Francis).

Any more word on our schedule next year? Hard dates? Definate opponents? etc...? CS is putting up the 2011 schedules now and wants the info for all the teams.

9/3 @ NC State
9/17 JMU
Robert Morris will likely be either 9/10 or 10/1

Count me as one who thinks we would benefit from a game in Florida. F_U + FAMU, while probably not going to happen, would be great OOC matchups.

What about a home and home with Jax State?

If we're truly getting better and better, I think 2 (or more) CAA games a year would be a great idea. Obviously the best conference in the FCS and IF we can show we not only compete, but win these games then Liberty will start getting more respect nationally. But we'd have to win against the middle-level CAA teams all the time.

Didn't think of them. It's kind of odd how they are in Florida yet so far away from the REST of Florida.

Jacksonville State is actually in Alabama. Jacksonville University wouldn't be a bad OOC either, they are a decent non-scholly...better than Morehead State.

9/3 @ NC State
9/10 RMU
9/17 JMU
9/24 ???
10/1 ???
10/8 bye?
10/15 Coastal
10/22 @ Charleston Southern
10/29 Presby
11/5 VMI

Games in bold are set. The others I'm just kinda guessing at the date. Still haven't heard any word on the last 2 games.

RMU will be on the 10th.

I asked Paul last week about the schedule and he was still working on the final two games. One might be a DII home game.

3 years in a row the BSC has scheduled us against SBU in the final game. Anyone else think that sends a pretty strong signal to the other schools in the conference?

Thanks Chris.

And please no D2 game!!! Any FCS would be 10x better - St Francis, Savannah St, NC Central, NC A&T, Georgetown, Howard, Campbell, Davidson, Norfolk St, Morgan St, surely we can get 1 of these teams.

I’m just guessing that’s what it will be. It might not though.

Agreed. Or play a road game at a good team with no return trip. Go to the Rock and tell them they don't need to come to the Burg. Travel to Washington-Grizzly and tell them to stay in Montana next year. Delaware, Nova, UMass, UNH, anybody. Let's prove we're trying to get to the top of the national level.

Hmm. Haven't thought about it that way. That would be fine with me, but I don't think Barber wants to do that. He was quoted earlier as saying we'd be willing to play anyone in the country on a home and home basis.

But I'm all for it. Let's go play @App.

Stress on the word "might" in that scenario. I just think he's exploring all options. Barber told me he's not interested in playing FCS road games against top teams with no return. And after having only four games at Williams Stadium this season, I don't think there's any doubt he's going to try to get six home games. Too much money to be made at a home game, especially after the renovations.

So I would guess one of those games will be on the road against an FCS and at home against someone willing to start a home-and-home in Lynchburg. Or against a DII if there are no takers.

As much as I would hate to see us end up with a DII home game, we still are in that weird place where itll be a challenge to get the big boys (like an Appalachian St or a Delaware or Stephen F Austin, etc.) to commit to a home and home because we arent that easy mark we were in the first part of the 21st century, but we arent quite at the point where getting a win over us would be a "quality win" because we are still (even with the improvement we've made in the last five years) "just Liberty"
