Has Liberty had any notable walk-on success stories recently, or in the past...Just wondering.

Very good question! Most big time programs have walk ons who contributes to its program, like FSU, VT, Nebraska.

I best walkon I remember at LU lately was Lawrence Worthington. A running back that played back in the mid 90's.

Nick Barela - Godly young man went from walk-on to full scholarship. Graduated 2001. Worked hard during summers when he had to pay his way through school. A transfer from Colorado. Felt God calling him to Liberty. Recipient of the Luke 2:52 Award. Is now a successful Financier in the corporate world. Great motivational speaker when he was the guest speaker at the 2005 Football Banquet. Not a dry eye in the place (at least for us older folks who were there).

No, he was a walk-on from Colorado. He was offered a scholarship a year or two after he arrived to LU by Sam Rutigliano. Indeed, his speech was very inspiring!! He made the graduating seniors turn their chairs around to face him as he spoke from the podium. His basic message was "life is hard but never give up". Would love to have him back again to hear him speak.
