I know this is all hypothetical, but doesn’t it seem dumb that you could end up having LU and JMU playing in the NC and the game taking place in TX? Or Richmond and W&M or Elon and App St. for that matter. I get it that it makes sense if its like W&M vs. Montana but in the other cases they should figure out a way to move the game to a more local venue…just my 2 cents

Then there's pretty much no way that we're on the road 1st round. Even if we're an at-large.
agreed

I think we host the NEC champ

I coulda swore I read somewhere that the first round would consist of teams in the same region as eachother. like LU, JMU, App, Richmond, etc....im no geography expert but i wouldn't consider Va and Montana neighbors.....

Yes, but it's also a money game, and he has the only other team out that way as a home game that they would have bid for and won.

What he's not considering is that we'd probably bid for and win a home game, as well. But in his proposal, we'd still have to travel.

I would think the committee would avoid a rematch, putting us against JMU. Not to mention, in this scenario, he has 6 CAA teams getting in, which, frankly, is almost impossible. They have 10 teams as of now, 6 out of 10 would be pretty impossible without things sorting out just right (OOC wins, proper balance of conference wins without ruining strength of schedule).

I think his pool is pretty much wrong, anyways (He doesn't use the regional factor at all, really), but even if it wasn't, we'd probably have a home game, and if we didn't, then we'd have to travel. It's unlikely that W and M, App, or JMU will be in that opening round.

And it's a pre-season prediction by someone not affiliated with FCS or the NCAA. Don't get too wound up. ;-)

McNeese, 02. Lost to Western Kentucky.

1987 was the last "Texas Area" team to win it, and that was Northeast Louisiana (Note both teams are from LA, not TX). NELA is now known as LA Monroe. (One of those teams like Marshall and WKY that should have stayed in FCS).

There has only been one Texas school ever in the FCS Title game, SFA, in 1989. They lost go Ga. So.

Then Texas makes a great neutral site allowing everyone to be on even playing field in regard to fan support. Montana fans are thrilled with Frisco and it is still a long way away from Missoula.

And for the record, I didn't bring the Texas angle into this thread. But I am happy to oblige.

I understand having the game at a neutral site however if the 3-4 western schools aren't in the championship then it is crazy to go to Texas to play a game between schools on the east coast (Also wouldn't KC or St. Louis be more centrally located than TX?).

Also is it really an east coast bias if 5 of the last 10 FCS championship games didn't involve a team from west of the Mississippi River and 9 of 10 won the FCS? You would defiantly have better attendance if you moved the game depending on the teams involved.
