Any word if the team will be sporting new threads and/or helmet design this year?

i know barber wants to stick with the same helmet style and the team will have new white and blue jerseys and keep the red ones from last year.
p.s. they wore the white jerseys in the spring game

With all of the money they are putting into facility upgrades this year (and the amount of work he put into the fundraising), is it possible that a new uniform could be on the horizon for the 07-08 season...or do they want to stay with the same style for the foreseeable future? It seems with the aura of a "relaunch" that has seemed to develop surrounding the program, it would seem natural that a Uni/Helmet update would be next on the docket.

Please, no! I am not ready to see the Flames with one long red sleeve and one blue.

I doubt that they did and it's not the VT/Miami look for certain. It's basically a navy blue counterpart to the white jerseys we wore during the spring game, as seen here:

I thought about that too, I didn't care for that VT/Miami look.

I was looking at some of the older helmets, and thought that a return to this one with a color update to the official blue they are now using, a slight font update (also for the font, either use the white as is or see how the deep red with a white outline would look), another option would be to have the "tail" in the script under the word disolving into a flame. Could be a cool bold look with the official LU logo appearing on the shoulder/sleeve of the uniforms. (IMO the current graphic is very difficult to see on the helmet as it is, though I am aware that several disagree as evidenced in the brief discussion several months ago. I would like to see a helmet update.)
or put the current logo in a circle like the Steelers:

If I never see us wearing royal blue again it will be too soon. If it's going to be blue, it's gotta be navy or nothing.

Libertine I agree 100%. I was involved with Men's basketball getting away from that color back in the day. I think we had to get permission from Chuck Burch (AD) to order navy blue but it looked sweet. Hildebrand's group was the first to wear that navy color and the hoops team has never looked back. I still have the shorts from that year. If I put it on E-Bay or Flamefans, I may get some hits huh?

Over on one of the other threads someone posted the official navy blue that they are staking the brand identity on in case you weren't aware.

Those things were so short that only girls would want them.

no SJ That was about the time of Chris Webber and the Fab 5 so everyone including Liberty had the big shorts. Thankfully! My old game shorts were given to my then 9 year old nephew who quickly out-grew them

Just checking out the new uniforms in the pics from last night, and I noticed how strikingly similar the LU get-up looks to UVA (not complaining either, it's a good look, and any juice LU can get by way of osmosis from UVA in all things academic, athletics, etc. is a boon.) The only noticeable difference (which actually becomes somewhat obsured in the pictures) is that LU uses red, not orange and has solid white pants with no stripe like UVA; but the helmets even have the two dagger stripes on the navy blue.

I still love the SPC gear.
Ours look just fine.

I think the gear looks sharp this year. (I'm still not sure about the helmet graphic, in the pictures from Thursday it looks like they doctored it a bit from last year.... I still think I would like a letter logo better on the helmet or a script FLAMES. But since that is our logo, between the two I think I like last years better, but overall this is a very minor point) Also, I was trying to envision if the gear looks better with the plain white pants (Penn State) or with a side stripe of some sort (UVA).
Also, what is the gear make up this year?
Home: Blue Top, White Pant
Away: White Top, Blue Pant?
Alternate: Red Top, Blue Pant?

Perhaps they should use the mock up that is at midfield, just the top part red with white outline without the wording, or just Flames underneath it in red with white outline. The UR Spiders have their spider red with white outline on navy helmets and it looks great:

The helmets are my only dislike about the uni's, or the branding. The logo just doesn't scale down well. It's the same problem they when they try to fit it into the box next to the score graphic on a TV basketball game. I can get behind the branding campaign, but I think the helmet needs an alternate version of some sort.

I say put the alt-logo on it (the cartoon eagle that's on all the hats and that stuff now).
Medic, the triangle patch we were talking about the other night is an NCAA patch, not a conference one.

I would like to see them tap these guys to come up with an alternate helmet logo:

A sample of their clientele and works of art: (tip, check the names on the college clientele list from the graphic below, then look the school up on the following,
