Yikes. That old "Flames" script (3rd photo) would go over well in San Francisco right now.

Considering how small & young the school was back int he Late '70s, the fact we were even fielding a football team was a major accomplishment. I believe Tom Dowling was coach at the time of that program.

Was that Glenn Inverso under center in the 3rd photo? Fine QB, played a little with the Bears. I don't remember the "dust bowl" game. It must have been a little before my time. Tom Dowling was a very underappreciated coach at that time. Later in his tenure he got a little over his head with the tougher scheduling and that kind of forced him out. Personally I thought that he did a fairly descent job as a coach all things considered.

I think that the dust bowl game was vs Dayton, a division 3 power at the time and we beat them on our way to a 9-1-1 season.

It looks a little like the script that the band Chicago used to use. Gosh, I miss 1979.

In 1979 I was going to Camden Park and fishing at Greenup Dam for sauger. Those were the days.
It was about that time that I was videotaping highlights for a linebacker who wanted to play for the Flames. Coach Dowling didn't give him a scholie but he wound up running most of the McDonalds in Southern Ohio so it probably worked out best.

The QB in that picture is Steve Patterson in 1979. Glenn Inverso was number 10 and QBed in the 1980 season. Inverso was a real QB to have played in those early days. The so-called dust bowl game was against Dayton and was LBC's biggest win to date (10/27/79), a great game too. The final score was 17 to 10.
And I was a junior in high school hoping to be a Flame after graduation in '81.
