We're underrated, but that's fine we'll be top 10 by the end of the year.

I really REALLY want to agree with the top 10. I TRULY believe we can be top 10. I'm gonna say top 15 though just because Liberty wont get all the respect it deserves/earns. But then again I could be totally wrong :)

It may not be completely true to our talent, but it is probably about where we deserve to start the season. We have had some success within the conference but have had no success to speak of nationally. Until we do that this is right around where we will start every season

I think that I have to agree with the postman, this is where we deserve to start and high enough and I think that it was generous because we couldn't stop stony brook and we didn't get the post season bid. Good call!

Wow, according to those rankings, LU only has the 4th best team in the state in IAA, with Richmond, W&M, and JMU ranked above us.

That's about right until we prove we can bet these teams, we will be forever be ranked below them they have history and a track record.

It would be unrealistic to put us any higher, and it would be unrealistic to put us out of the top 25. I think it's a perfect starting point, and will be improved upon once we beat BSU.

I love how everyone says "we have had no success to speak of nationally."

Yep, just like the 3rd and 4th floors of Demoss will forever be inhabitable.

And what NATIONAL success have we had?

In the last 5 years:

Playoff appearances - 0
Wins against teams that made the playoffs - 0

Conference championships are irrelevant to NATIONAL success when the conference has no auto-bid, like it or not.

I think we could have been a couple spots higher, but again this is a preseason poll.

We haven't had the success at the national level yet outside of the win over Elon. Other than that we've come up short (W&M, Towson, Elon, Toledo, Stony Brook).

Yes, you’re right we haven’t been to the playoffs or, obviously, won in the playoffs. We still need to do that, bad.

But don’t say we’ve had no national success. National success is more than just wins and losses. Because of the last 3 seasons our name is now mentioned as a possible playoff team year in, year out.

In the past 3 seasons:
we’ve had a Peyton Award candidate.
A NFL draft pick.
We’ve been ranked 22 out of the last 30 weeks.
We’ve been ranked as high as 14.
We had the nation’s longest winning streak.
We won on the road against a traditionally strong Youngstown State team.
We dominated a top 15 Elon team.
We've been one of a handful of teams with a legitimate shot at an at-large playoff bid going into the last game the last 2 years.

preseason ranking - not much more than wins, losses, name recognition(a subset of national success) and returning players.

But that's irrelevant to your argument. Some of those "examples of national success" are laughable and only confirm that we've done very little on the national scale. Beating a 3-8 team? Come on.

Rashad's accolades, consistent rankings in the 15-25 range and one win against Elon are all we have to boast our national prowess.

Oh, and that poll has been a joke for some time.

Davidson getting ORVs?

I don't disagree. Just pointing out that we do have some national success.

We'll earn much more this year and next.

Maybe no national success is pushing it..but I still don't believe we have had nearly enough to justify being put into the top 15 to start the season...we are probably under rated, but I don't believe we have accomplished enough NOT to be under rated nationally.

I'd rather be underrated than overrated.

Yeah, but if I had a choice between voting for Coastal, G-Webb, or VMI based strictly on how I thought they'd do this season, Coastal would get the vote.
