Last year, instead of trying to come up with a preseason Top 25 of the nation’s FCS teams, I instead chose to with an “FCS 40,“ giving a quick-hit preview of the top 40 teams in the country in no particular order. The teams are divided into sub-sets. Today, for instance, we’ll break down the teams that fall into the No. 31-40 range, then 21-30 and 11-20 before unveiling the top 10.
Teams 31-40
Chattanooga
Dayton
Eastern Kentucky
Eastern Washington
Maine
Pennsylvania
Prairie View A&M
Robert Morriss
Stony Brook
UC Davis

I wouldn't say that. Most publications have them out of the top 25. So for Lang they're either 31-40 or 21-30.
Personally I'd have them in the 21-30 range.

Stony Brook has a lot to replace on defense. And with only four home games, it's going to be really tough for them to be any better record-wise than they were last year.

Actually I most surprised by the lack of respect for Prairie View. I wish we could see them in the playoffs because they have a ton of talent.

I struggled with where to put the Panthers. I ended up moving them down a rung and putting Montana State in the 21-30 range. It's really hard for me to judge the SWAC, Ivy and Pioneer teams since they rarely play teams from traditional auto-bid conferences. (At least the Ivy rarely plays anyone other than the Patriot League.)

Prairie View has some kids who could ball a lot of places. IMHO they are a 20-25 caliber squad ... perhaps even a little better but as you pointed out, it is tough to tell.
