Who will develop into the play makers this year, the players coach will call on during crunch time?

I guess we are in bad shape if all we have to depend on is one MB sounds quite predicable.

Id keep an eye on Chris Summers (Mike Brown's favorite target), Greg Pratt and BJ Hayes at WR and Korrey Davis (UMass transfer) at RB. Also look for SirChauncey to improve this year as well splitting carries with Davis. on the defensive side, Brent Vinson could have a breakout year and Kajuan Lee (who led the team in INTs and was named all conference) should have a big year too

What makes you think Pratt automatically jumps into go-to playmaker category after never playing a down of college football? He's got potential to be good in a year or two but he's not in that category right now.

He redshirted last year at Troy.

Aahh! My mistake. I hope he contributes and I hope he contributes alot. Just wishful thinking, that's all.

I know Mike Brown most definitely but I'm hoping to see others step it up so it just isn't the Mike Brown show. RB's are gonna have to be tackle breakers so good to see Holloway add some weight. The defense looks to be special from top to bottom but I do expect a HUGE year from Terry Adams, take away the family factor and I'd still feel this way all because of the work he has put in.

Offense: Mike Brown, Chris Summers, Ervon Garner, Korrey Davis

Defense: Brent Vinson, Mike Connelly, Doncel Bolt, Terry Adams

You're expecting that much out of Garner?

I'm predicting a heavy chance of FOGG...Kevin Fogg that is. You've heard it here first, so dont be surprised. Far warning

Fogg had a nice interception today at practice.

I think it remains to be seen if Mike Brown can make all the throws...and if he can stay healthy. Though our running game, and Brown's other abilities, should make up for any difficulties hopefully. I'm not exactly blown away by our backup QBs, though they may be servicable.

Return game is sort of question mark in my mind, with Brown being the QB.

It also remains to be seen if we actually have a good receiving corps or not. After a strong season last year, I'm hoping Summers has permanently lost his teflon gloves from a couple years ago. But is there anyone else after him?

Oh, and the dirty "S" word; our Secondary. Hopefully I won't have to cover my eyes every time the opposing quaterback throws up the ball, or a running back breaks into the secondary this year. I think we have adderessed the issue, but we'll see.

Best part though, is that there are no glaring weaknesses or injury concerns currently. I think we will be tops in the BSC again this year if we can stay healthy and the secondary is improved. Then it's on to the FCS tourney.

Is that an off-set pistol formation in that pic, or am I seeing things?

Yes, they were running a little pistol yesterday. As for mike's question, I think Brennan threw the pick, but I'm not totally sure.

Brennan only I think threw 12 passes all year last year (Id have to go back to one of my old discussions on CS.com because I have the number there) so I think its tough to judge him at this point in a game setting at this point.

Return game I think is a question. Hayes does have the speed to break a big one. According to the depth chart Lang had in his blog the top return guys are BJ Hayes, Jimmy Eden and Danny Broggin. Hayes and Broggin have both broken big ones over the last couple years.

Summers is the #1 guy and probably MB's favorite target when he does throw. I am expecting him to really take the step and become a top receiver in the country. Itll be interesting to see how the rest of the guys do as well.

I like the adjustments that they have made with the defense and changing some of the positions to hopefully address the problem giving up the intermediate passes which should mean fewer over the top balls too...those are my thoughts though

Why do you say that? He did a good job at Laffy and the coaches worked him in a bit during other games and gave him some passing plays. Of course, everyone has room for improvement, but I think overall he'll do just fine. Hopefully he will stay healthy. It would help if they don't have him playing all over the field like last year (i.e Receiver, Special Teams...)

I agree with you on the Receivers though. Definitely looking for Chris Summers to be #1, but hopefully someone else will have a break out year. Was thinking Jimmy Eden may be that guy, but now with his botched surgery, who knows how much time he'll be missing from camp.

I think we should be cautious about tossing out phrases like "botched surgery". Does anyone here actually know what happened? What I heard described sounded more like an adverse reaction to anesthesia. I had to spend extra time in the hospital after 2 seperate operations on my LEG because it took a while for my bowels and bladder to resume normal function after being under for quite a while, and they won't discharge you til they do. Maybe something else happened with Jimmy, but I'm not sure we should be throwing the doctor under the bus without knowing all the facts.

Not quite sure where that's coming from. Mike has been pretty healthy during his time here and hasn't had any trouble making any throws. He's got as strong an arm as Beecher, if not stronger, and Beecher didn't have any troubles at the Big South level.
