So, given the little teaser earlier (and the fact that I'm sitting here with a good case of bronchitis, which makes working tomorrow doubtful at best), I decided to wait up and see who wasn't going to be in the backfield. It was who I thought, but not why I thought.

Dismissed from the team AND no longer enrolled at Liberty. Ouch. Guess it's a good thing we're pretty well stocked in the RB department.

Yeah, I hope things work out for him.

As for football, I think he had slipped to #3 on the RB depth chart, and this will just give Chase Barnett a chance to get on the field.

Certainly hope Aldreakis can get things straight. On the positive side, I'm glad to see that whatever it was, it wasn't swept under the rug, and it's great to see that we have added such depth at RB that the guy who was our leading rusher last year as a true Freshman would probably have been no better than 3rd string this year.

He has to be out of school for a year (can go to community college) and can reapply for next fall. If he chooses to do that he'll be back on the team and this year will be like a redshirt year.

There is something contradictory about this statement to me.
It was dealt with. There were consequences. We don't necessarily need to know all the details.

If it's legal trouble's or something it will make it's way out anyway. Sounds fairly significant. My friend and I were just talking the other night about how we had stayed away from that in recent years. I think we had lost more bball players than football players which is amazing given that a football roster is about 7 to 8 times larger than a bball roster. I think Davis was the clear number 1 and Holloway was the number 2 anyway. It would have been nice to have that bruiser at TB tho.

I wouldn't leap to any conclusions - remember we have tighter standards. stuff not necessarily illegal otherwise won't fly at LU. Even for athletes.

just something to keep in mind.

That's what I was thinking. If it was something major, I can't believe that the story didn't break sooner. That's the kind of thing that people look for just to give LU a black eye. Still a stunner, though.

{edit to add smart-alec comment}Of course, maybe the school just found out that he falsified some of the biographical material in the press guide.

Yup - NAU got a great RB transfer from BYU a few years back because he twice had premarital sex, and was kicked out of the University. That offense violated the BYU honor code, but is not illegal, or anything different than goes on at a majority of colleges.

I remember airing highlights of Ronney's mammoth high school game.

Now back to the previously scheduled discussion of Aldreakis being gone.

Everyone on should be praying for Aldreakis. He didn't break any laws but football sometimes is all these young men have. I do believe that he'll comeback next year much stronger both mentally and physically but he needs prayer.

Would also like to add in that I expect a huge season from Sir Chauncey Holloway, he weighs 198lbs (10 pounds up from last year) and now has the body that can handle 10-15 carries a game. Looking for him to much more physical than last year and this should be his breakout year.

Count me among those lifting up Aldreakis in prayers. This can be a moment of personal victory or defeat for him depending on what occurs next in his life.

Aldreakis will be fine. . . he will be back next year as a better student-athlete mentally and physically. Sometimes we make wrong decisions but those decisions can make us stronger and grow in our faith. Remember, if you never have gone through any tough times, you will never know just how GREAT our higher power is!

Hopefully the comes back and has gotten better and has had time reflect. If he us back he will definitley help us in sluggish running game we had this last season. Yay for Aldreakis!

Aldreakis is good, but you guys are really putting too much stock in him like he is going to be our savior. Our problems this year in the run game wasn't simply the backs we had back there. SirChauncey's a heck of a running back.
