He had an appendectomy and the doctor screwed up pretty bad. He's been in the hospital for a few days and it got pretty rough for a while. From what I was told last night it seems like the worst is over and he'd be able to eat some solid foods today and would start to build his strength back up so he can go home soon.

I saw some pics on Twitter of a bunch of guys on the team around his hospital bed with him and he was smiling big. Praying he feels better quickly.

Update from Coach Rocco via Chris ...
NewsAdvance.com wrote:Eden out
Earlier this month, Liberty receiver Jimmy Eden was admitted to the hospital for an appendectomy, which is normally a routine procedure.
The normal hospital stay for the surgery is one to three days. Eden, though, suffered some internal complications, and he remained in the hospital for well over a week.
“Basically, his intestines sort of shut down,” Rocco said. “So there were a couple of days where he really wasn’t passing food. So they had to start that back up.”

Glad to hear that Jimmy is doing better.
Eden won the Flames’ punt return job at spring practice, but he won’t be able to participate in drills for at least the next four weeks. In Eden’s place, several players will get the chance to return punts, “including Mike Brown,” Rocco said.
I really don't want to see that happen.

I'm sure Rocco feels the same way, and is just not ruling anything out. We have at least a handfull of guys who could win that job. All of them with the speed to take it to the house.
BJ Hayes
Mike Pratt
Ervin Garner
Ron Hobby
Tracy Curry (if he is not redshirted)
I think the only way Mike runs back punts is if none of those guys demonstrate they can be depended on to make good judgements and field the ball cleanly. If that is the case, look for a lot of fair catches from Mike.

That's awesome Jimmy is practicing! Considering how thin we are at WR, they're not thinking of playing Jimmy this season are they? I can't imagine he would be physically prepared to play after what he went through.

Eden makes miraculous return at Liberty

Jimmy Eden was emaciated after spending 28 days at two different hospitals. He was weak, all of the work done in Bill Gillespie’s weight room undone by an appendectomy gone horribly wrong. Yet at the same time, he was happy, even thankful.
