Twitter folks

Quick question: What's the best hashtag to use for Liberty football during the season? For Hillcats stuff, I use #Reds because that often comes up in searches, so I get more eyes on my tweets from random Reds fans.
#LUfootball? #LibertyFlames? What do most of you who tweet use? Or should we all try to come up with one consensus hashtag that will come up in more searches.
Thanks!

#flamefans
Good question. Last year, I used #LU & #flames but getting on same page would help.

Great post Chris. Last year I used #LibertyFlames or #Beat(whoever) . I think organization twittering would be great.

LU has a social media person. Ask them what they use, then we follow.

Basically, it's something you add to a tweet to make it easier to find in a simple search on Twitter.
If I search for #Reds, anyone who posts something with #Reds will come up in my search, and I can find people who are talking about the Reds. Conversely, with anything I post now, I add #Reds to the end of it so people searching for Reds posts can find me. I've added quite a few followers that way. I figure I might be able to find a lot of Liberty fans doing football season using the same method.

I don't think the debut of Lamar University football of Calgary hockey would interfere with any of our tweets so there are plenty of opportunities out there. Rather than wait on somebody else to decide, let's do it democratically. I've started a poll in this thread. Let us know what you think.

#LibertyFlames would be good because it could encompass all sports, not just football. Or #LUFlames to keep it tighter because of Twitter's word restrictions.

I'd go with #LU or #flames. It takes up less characters and can be all sports. I'd go #LU over #flames because more people would search for #LU.

I agree Chris. I think LUFlames would be best, but I'm not changing my board style just so that I can vote.
I just saw that LUFlames was not on the list.

I voted #LUFlames . It makes the most sense and is pretty specific to LU without being too many characters.

Jon, my only concern with simply #flames is that you'd catch a lot of Calgary Flames fans there.

And a few from the University of Chicago. I don't think just using #LU is good because of Longwood.
I vote #LUFlames too.
Can we get this voting thing fixed?

It looks like a near consensus.

lets be honest, we have more fans than the calgary flames...
id vote either#flames or #LU or #liberty, but then we have the problem across the board. Everyone who tweets about I want more #liberty in this country would be finding stuff on us.

Plus, you'll get a lot of stuff on the academic end with just #Liberty. I used #UVa during the super regionals and a lot more than athletics stories showed up on searches.
