Gameday Radio Show

Hello All.
I haven't posted here in a while, but I read weekly.
When I was a student at LU (04-08) I lived to tailgate. We got there early, and often stayed late. As the years passed and the tailgating/gameday atmosphere improved, I began to ask myself what could make it even better.
In my mind, it would be awesome to have a pre-game radio show broadcasting live from the parking lot that is possibly also shown on TV as well.
Nothing I love more than waking up on a Saturday morning and tuning into either College GameDay or listening into my local radio broadcast.
Would love to see LU develop something like this if it doesn't exist already.
Go Flames!

Id drop Kevin Keys or Nick Pierce an email about that. it sounds like a nice idea (especially of the new "Voice of the Flames" Mr Alan York got involved)

The problem with this comes in where that show is broadcast. I doubt VictoryFM will give more time than we have.

That was my thought too SJ, but I wonder if with the new focus on athletics (last few years under Barber) that they wouldn't be more inclined to do so.
I would absolutely love to be a part of something like that. I'm nobody special, but I'd love to just help get something off the ground.
PLUS...it'd give me an excuse to have to be at all the home games at least.
We'll see...

Great idea. It could always be added as an online only broadcast.

The probably with online only productions is it great limits its reach to the tailgaters that it targets.
I am working up some ideas for gameday telecasts at Texas right now and obviously it is easier to fill time with a larger venue. But the principles of creating a buzz apply to either location. Wish I weren't halfway across the continent for all but Homecoming this fall.

Nicky,
Miss you in ATL my man. Hope all is well!
Dude, let's start putting some ideas together on this thing. The absolute worst thing they could do would be say "no"...so I say we go for it.
Maybe there are others who could contribute as to what it would look like.
I mean, what elements would be desirable for a two hour show?
Off the top of my head I think:
Key Matchups
Player Feature (w/ interview)
Keys to the Game
I'm even thinking that with the relationships that the AD has built recently, that many local businesses might even partner with us as sponsors.
Ideas?

I think it's a great idea and always have.
You could tie in some type of promotion each week between tailgaters which will increase the amount of people tailgating and the amount of people listening to find out what next week's competition will be.

Back home they always just take calls from fans if they run out of things to do. Easy time filler if you think enough people will call in.
