Did Mike Rocco ever consider attending Liberty? I am a huge Louisville Cardinal fan and was looking forward to him trying to win a spot at QB there. Then he decided to go elsewhere. Did Liberty make a pitch for him, or was there no interest. I figured family ties might work in the Flames favor.
By the way, I got to drive through campus for the first time last week returning from vacation in Louisville. The stadium looks great. I am looking forward to going to a couple games this fall. My 12 yr. old daughter has decided Liberty is the place for her since they have a Fashion Merchandising & Design major.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that he someday still might play for the Flames. But yeah, he certainly gave us some consideration ...

Thats really great to hear about your daughter. Yes, Liberty was in consideration simply for family ties alone...I'd venture to say LU was in the top 3 when selection time came. Something Ive never really thought about was I wonder how much Mike Brown played in that decision.
I can promise you one thing though, if anything happens up there that is unexpected (playing time, coaching conflicts etc) you'll see him here at LU before you know it.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he didn't beat out Gabe Henderson though. That kid looks to be amazing.

I have to agree with you Sly. I saw his high school footage and he looked like a huge threat and his great ability to make great decisions as a QB under pressure make him an even better more interesting and the potential is there. I cannot wait to see Gabe start someday and I am sure it might be over Tyler. Tyler seems like a great back-up as a pocket/drop back passer. I saw him get some reps at the WVW game and PC game and he looked ok but this is also a new season and his development might help and see how well he turns out to be. I think I am just partial to the Dual threat/Wild cat QB like Pat White, Jarret Brown, Armanti Edwards, and Mike Brown. I like to see a QB who can throw the short and long ball and if he cannot do that he can make a play by calling his own number. I think I even saw Mike selling popcorn in the stands the Williams stadiums during plays as well.

When Mike graduates, Tyler will only have one year of eligibility remaining. Gabe will be a Redshirt Sophomore. I think you'll see alot in 2012 of what we saw in 2009 where Tyler gets the start (ala Beecher) with Gabe as the wildcat (ala MB).

Apparently Liberty finished no higher than 3rd!
