Signed his LOI to Liberty perferred walkon
Brooks, a welcomed addition to the celebration, joined his teammates on the dais for his football college announcement. The 6-0, 210-pound strong safety will take a preferred walk-on position at Liberty University.
Brooks said this is his chance at redemption.
"It was really frustrating at times standing on the sidelines this year," the soft-spoken Brooks said. "Now I feel like I have a chance to redeem myself. I need to take what I learned and give it my best to compete for a strong safety position at Liberty."
Brooks, whose family moved here from North Dakota, said it wasn't until the region championship win over Hanover until he really felt at peace and accepted his role as one of the Generals, even though he was injured.
"It was unfortunate what happened to Darec," Mills added. "Before the injury he was getting a lot of looks, but afterward no one really pursued him, except for the fact coach Rocco offered him an opportunity as a preferred walk-on."

there is no LOI for walkons. They only get a guarantee that they will be on the roster when the season opens. They can get invited to camp also which would increase his chances to play

a lot of times they just put somethign there because it looks good to act like signing but I'm pretty sure big al is right about that.

Looks like a great pick and I hope that guys that get offered with prior injuries like Barnett actually starts to pay dividends in the future. I hope that offers to guys like these are wise investments. It just sucks because I have not seen any flashes from Barnett and has had some nagging injuries this last season.
