Hmmm, where have I heard this name? Yeah, I know he's not related.

The Sabre wrote:The two other potential Division 1 recruits include a linebacker and a wide receiver.

Both are athletic, but the latter possesses outstanding speed.

"We have two other kids that are prospects.

What level is still to be seen," (LCA coach Frank) Rocco said.

"There is no relation to Grant, but Ray Jones is an inside linebacker.

He is 6-0, 220 pounds, and he really has great athletic skills.

He's going to be recruited as well.

He has taken unofficial visits to U-Conn and Illinois and there is mild interest from those schools.

I think Ray will definitely be a 1-AA guy and we'll see how the senior year goes."

Great player! Has a real mean streak when he's on the field.

Sly, Not only are we not related ... I don't think he's nearly as good looking as me either!

This has been posted on the Chapel board already, but for those of you not aware, the fatal accident this weekend involved Ray's mom (LU professor Dr. Jill Jones) and brother (Niko). Please remember Ray and his dad (Ray Sr.) in your prayers (as well as the TRBC, LU and LCA extended families)

Jones is playing this season with a heavy heart. His mother, Jill, and younger brother, Nicholas, were killed in an automobile accident earlier this month.

Said Rocco: “He’s really struggling through that right now. But it’s really been an amazing tribute to him, how he’s grown through this, both on the field and off the field. It’s remarkable how he’s kept himself together. He would have been a leader for us.”

I could drop our fair scribe a note and see if he picked up anything on him before he headed down to Rock Hill but my guess is that if he doesnt know anything right this moment, he probably will once he gets back in between this weekend and our first round mens basketball tournament game
