Patrick Terry and Jake Johnson have both been granted out of their scholarships and are both looking to transfer to FCS schools so they can play this upcoming fall.
Here is an article:
http://weblogs.dailypress.com/sports/co ... trick.html
I cannot copy and paste further comments b/c they come from an insider website, but there is talk that JJ is looking at JMU, Richmond, and Liberty if he cannot get an offer from a FBS school. Patrick Terry I have read is only looking at FCS schools and is from South Boston, so he is quoted as saying he wouldn't mind LU, but that he hasn't heard anything from LU (I read that probably last week).
Lets see where this goes, maybe we get both, maybe we get one.
Right now Ervin Garner is a VT transfer and Kent Hicks and Stevie Ray Llyod were VT transfers that help LU greatly.

I don't think that there is a pressing need for either DE or WR right now. The OL is where we need some immediate help.

Johnson would want to play linebacker probably.

johnson is transferring because he was unhappy with his move from LB to DE. so what happens when he goes to a new school and does not like his position?? transfer again???

Like it has been said on this board 1 million times - we would never turn down a player that played or even practiced with a 1A program.

I haven't heard of anyone new on the horizon, but that doesn't mean there won't be any pleasant surprises. I think the main thing we are waiting on is the eligibility status of J'Courtney Williams.

Josh McKie from UNC is looking for a new home...leaving after freshman year means he probably wouldnt have seen significant time at UNC.

Julian Poindexter Home town Bedford Transfered from Virginia State to Marshall University Plays WR..strong athletic and fast will contend for a starting spot at a slot wr postion eventually..had a Great Spring game for Marshall this year but had to transfer closer to home due to family issues I advised him to finish his 2 years of eligibilty at Liberty ..of course Coach Rocco has to accept him..he has already been admitted to the school and met with coaches last week.

That's awful presumptuous to say that Coach Rocco "has to" accept him. Now the fact that he met with the coaches and is already in school means they probably already went through much of the process but acting like you are inside Coach Rocco's head and saying that he "has to" accept somebody is not a wise concept

BJ, while I can see troy being arrogant enough to think that his opinion truly matters to the coaching staff, I'm pretty sure he was saying that the only way this kid plays is if Coach Rocco accepts him.

Marshall has been known to produce some pretty amazing receivers...like Randy Moss.

Yes I meant it was contingent on Coach Rocco accepting him onto the team..which has been done already. And as far as my opinion mattering to the Coaching staff thats funny I'm sure it doesnt as far as play calling or everyday running of a football program obviously but as far as indvidual athletes or talent thats questionable but in reality a non factor because I will continue to do what I do which is help Liberty Football in productive ways in a non gossip board status. Its unfortunate because I posted that just as a heads up on a new player to the program whom I help mentor and guide but immediately there are childish sly remarks made. I have a personal relationship with the coaches and have steered several players onto the program and this will continue but any furthur postings on this issue will not. I really hope prospective student athlete's do not read some of these peoples postings because this site has degraded tremendously.

I was simply questioning the wording of your post because the way you wrote it at least to me smacked of presumption. Im glad that Jon (and yourself) cleared up what you meant and here's hoping he can contribute right away.

A couple nuggets hidden toward the end of Chris' Big South Media Day Wrap-up ....
NewsAdvance.com wrote:Roster additions
Rocco said Peter Gagliardi, a fullback, and receiver Julian Poindexter, a former Liberty High standout who was a non-scholarship player at Marshall, have joined the team.
Gagliardi was interested in Liberty before choosing to go to Buffalo. Former LU linebackers coach Robert Wimberly initially recruited Gagliardi but Wimberly left to join Turner Gill's staff at Buffalo. Gill became Kansas' head coach in the offseason, and Wimberly went with him, and Gagliardi chose to leave UB.
Rocco said Gagliardi will compete for the starting fullback job right away

Considering we lost both our fullbacks to graduation, this is a good pickup. We now have I think 4 FBs on the roster and that should make for some good competition going into the start of practice next week

We need to convince that guy from UVA (Cory Lillard) to come to LU rather than Delaware since our facilities are so much nicer now. Hopefully he puts major emphasise on that aspect over what conference we are in and tradition (Delaware has a big edge there). That would be the "icing on the cake" for me after what happened to JCourtney and Aldreakis. I will have to keep checking on the seperate thread set up for him and see if he chooses us and I know that I will be worrying about it all weekend long.

I read somewhere (CS.com I think) that he is supposed to decide all weekend...I dont think that this kid is something anybody needs to jack their stress level through the upper atmosphere over though steve
