Does anyone know the validity of Trey Jacobs signing a contract with the Redskins?

Confirmed: He came in the FOC today and we helped him with his paperwork and then took it to FedEx to overnight it.

It helps when Gil Brandt says nice things about you!
haha. go Trey!http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1685528
03/28/2010 - PRO DAY RESULTS: With all the talk about 4.30-second 40-yard dashes, 40-inch vertical jumps and 10-foot broad jumps, it's easy to lose track of what constitutes an outstanding workout for a defensive tackle. Naturally, the standards are different for players hovering around 300 pounds. Given that, it's eye-catching what unheralded prospect Trey Jacobs (6-3 3/4, 295 pounds) was able to accomplish at Liberty's pro day. The athletic defensive tackle was the most notable of the seven prospects who worked out indoors on FieldTurf for representatives from three teams. He ran the 40-yard dash in 5.13 and 5.0 seconds, had a 36-inch vertical leap, 8-1 broad jump, a 4.61-second short shuttle, a 7.58-second three-cone drill and did 24 bench press repititions at 225 pounds. While those numbers won't put him in a position to rival the quickness, speed and agility of skill position players, they are more than good enough to indicate he has the physical attributes to handle offensive linemen. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

A try out and a contract are two different things. Vince Redd got a contract a few years ago. Wynton Jackson got a try-out. Contracts are almost guaranteed you'll at least make the practice squad.

Why not get excited? Not many people get invited to training camp, unless I'm missing something... I'm still waiting for my letter... Sometimes all you need an opportunity....

On behalf of everyone but the one Naysayer - CONGRATS TREY! We are behind you all the way even though it is "just a try out" with the Redskins.

WOW! BYD! Just WOW!

In a tryout, you show up for mini camp, try out for the weekend, and leave.

As an undrafted free agent who signs a contract with the team, you are signed to a daily contract and are paid for every day you're at the facility.

Undrafted free agents are held in higher regard than guys invited simply for rookie mini-camp.

Undrafted free agents are invited to the OTAs, the mini-camps, and all of the off-season activities.

Teams bring in usually five to seven guys as undrafted free agents signed to contracts. If you're worth anything, there's a very good chance you make the practice squad. I shouldn't have said guaranteed but undrafted free agents have a better chance of making the team than guys invited simply for a try-out.

Yes, either one is a long shot, but to say that there's no difference in the two is, in your words, flat wrong.

EXACTLY!

There is a difference between Stevie Ray Lloyd's unpaid weekend with the 'Skins and Trey's paid UFA Contract.

Congrats and good luck Trey! I hope all LU players learn from the positives and the negatives of former LU players to try to make the big time. Vince also got something else...got dumb, got caught, got suspended, got cut, and essentially got excommunicated from the NFL. So much for making the practice squad.

Trey was cut when the Skins signed Trent Williams

http://www.redskins.com/gen/articles/Wi ... 132922.jsp
The Redskins have completed the signing of offensive tackle Trent Williams, the team announced on Friday.

To make room for Williams on the roster, the Redskins released defensive lineman Trey Jacobs and placed offensive lineman Mike Williams on the reserve/non-football illness list.

He could get invited back if someone gets hurt and another team looking for a fresh body to replace an injured player in camp could bring him in.

Well if Haynesworthless keeps preforming the way he has, Trey might get a spot again.

Bump

This is a blog post I read last year about Trey Jacobs during mini camp. The thing that caught my attention about this article was a picture of Trey carrying a big buttload of redskins player's helmets at top of page. Sad picture!

Unfortunately he was cut from the team. Anyone know if he is on a team?
