Winter Freezes the Competition on his Way to Hubs Stardom

The death of Anthony Winter's grandmother couldn't have come at a worse time. It was late October 2009 and Winter's North Hagerstown football team still had two games left, including the major "civil war" rivalry match against South Hagerstown.

Normally a death doesn't take two full weeks to mourn, but Winter's grandmother didn't live in the States. She was from Antigua, an island about 300 miles east of Puerto Rico.

Of course, family comes first, so there was no question Winter would attend the funeral. But he vowed to try everything possible to make sure he was back for the North-South showdown.

"I couldn't miss the North-South game," said Winter, a junior running back. "It's our version of Army versus Navy. Winning this game defines your season."

According to Rivals, Anthony has verbally committed to Bryant which is his only offer at this point.
