noticed we still have some holes, and coincidently- apparently JMU is available on 9/9.
wonder if there is any way we could work THAT one out? Man, that would be GREAT! you know SLY, H'BURG and I miss THAT rivalry!

I'm pretty sure JMU has announced its schedule (it was on the AnyGivenSaturday board) and Liberty was not on it.

According to a poster on AGS.com, there's a four-year home-and-home between Liberty and JMU set to start in 2008 (two in H-burg, two in L-burg).

THATS THE BEST NEWS I'VE HAD ALL DAY!
Sorry for shouting- but thats GREAT to hear- you have to wonder how much more impact Coach Rocco can have. My heart can't take any more.
man, thats great news.

The news came from the paper in Harrisonburg. I'm still waiting to hear back from some Liberty folks on it.

I admit that I find that fantastic news as well. Old schoolers on this board realize that we considered JMU our rival back in the day when we first turned I-AA. Its great to be renewing the matchups even if they are obviously in a much stronger position right now. By the time we meet in 2008 I have a feeling the tales will be turned.

SLY if we get a home and home w/ JMU we gotta meet up and make at least 2 of those games. And drag (the currently missing in action) H'BURG with us as well.

Football season is really tough for me to get a weekend off in my line of work. ut I would certainly be down for it otherwise.

Its 2008-2012 man, thats plenty of notice. Anyway- you'll undoubtedly be a network suit by then and can take all the va-K that you want!

that would be great to see the dukes back on the schedule. they used to be our biggest rival! hopefully by the time we play we will have already made a few playoff appearances!

If we have a few playoff appearances by then that would be awesome considering it is just 2 years away!

I would be nice to see that becoming a great rivalry ounce again if we can build up to JMU's level. Some of the best games I have seen were back in the late 80's early 90's time period when we competed favorably with them. We have some work to do on our part but hopefull Coach Rocco and the new AD will make the right moves to get us to that level ounce again.

Add JMU and keep another instate team like William and Mary on the schedule and we could really add to ticket sales. Back in the 80's there was a concerted effort from some instate schools not to play us for fear they would give us a platform to recruit instate players. JMU was the only one willing to put us on their schedule.

Rumors are stating that don't cancel those Rutgers plans yet. They apparently do not want out of the game as much as we do.

Nick ... It definitely wasn't a done deal with the Rutgers game being called off. If there was a contract signed, there's probably a substantial penalty for bailing out of the contract, and that's not the sort of pub Liberty football wants.
BTW, the opener will be on Thursday, Aug. 31 against St. Paul's from Roanoke. They're a Division II school that plays in the CIAA and just started football two years ago.
I've been told the rest of the schedule might be done by the end of next week. The Rutgers question could be muddling things.

One of the open dates has been replaced with Georgetown...not sure which date[/quote]

st. pauls went 4-6 in their 1st year of DII football in the CIAA, after not fielding a team since 1987. they competed as a club team from 2002-2004. i was hoping if we were to play a DII team it would be a better team, but it is what it is. If georgetown is on the schedule, that is a good game IMHO. BTW, st. pauls is from lawrenceville, va. off of I-85 in a very remote part of virginia near the north carolina border.

Smooth, my sources have said nothing about Georgetown as a potential game for next year. Think of another school in the same city, though ...

C Lang are you talking about Howard? I have seen them play this season in person and I know a couple of their players. They have a pretty good team at the 1A level (at least at home). That would be a fun game especially up there. The atmosphere is electric. As far as Georgetown, I used to be a sideline reporter for a few of their games back in 2000 and they had a really good program but it has taken its lumps since moving to the Patriot league. They had a reciever back then that set a bunch of records and almost made it to the NFL. He was fun to watch.

obviously it would have to be howard, and if so, im good with that too. i guess it could be a strong gate with the proxmity.

Howard would be an okay game. Should get a descent crowd for that one.

Any possibility that the date that was going to be at Rugers is filled with another home game?

I would be completely cool with either G-town or Howard. I'm curious if this matchup would be in DC or at our place. I know we were looking for a home date.
