Lake Weir High quarterback Tracy Curry gave his verbal pledge to Division I-AA Liberty (Va.) University Tuesday after visiting with head coach Danny Rocco.
Curry (6-1, 190) chose Liberty over offers from UCF, FAU, Iowa State, Ohio, Cincinnati and Troy, according to Lake Weir head coach Mark Hinterthan.
Curry, who led the Hurricanes to back-to-back postseason berths, threw for nearly 1,400 yards and rushed for another 741 as a senior. He totaled 21 touchdowns, including three punt returns for scores.
Of the schools pursuing Curry, only Liberty and Troy were recruiting him as a quarterback, which may have played a role in his decision.
This looks like a good pick up. RS him the first year and he can learn a lot from Mike Brown.

We got another Curry!
Oh and look he chose us over some "big" schools.

Perfect timing to be the "next Mike Brown". Redshirt as a Freshman, a year as a WR/backup, and then.........................
I think you can bank it that seeing what Mike was able to do in our offense as an all around athlete weighed in him choosing us over BCS schools.

The defense by the opposing teams in that highlight video was nothing short of awful. I say we reject the commit.

Looking at some of the highlights he certainly has the ability to be electrifying. He has a very good nose for pressure which helped him make a lot of big gains (even if the defense was somewhat questionable), I liked some of the throws he made as well. I think it would make things very interesting with him and Mike Brown (who?) and then having Hudson and Brennan as well in the QB stable.

Ocala.com wrote:“The bigger schools wanted him for other spots, mostly (defensive back),” Hinterthan said. “Tracy was ready to get it over with. He liked Liberty, and really liked their strength training program.”
The other schools, especially UCF, have turned up their recruiting efforts since word of Curry's commitment got out midweek. Several schools had been slow-playing the versatile prospect while he worked through some academic issues.
Hinterthan says he's confident Curry will be fully qualified by National Signing Day on Feb. 3.
“He'll be eligible,” Hinterthan said. “Everybody else was waiting and seeing, and Liberty was ready to pull the trigger. He's on track.”
Curry plans to take his official visit to Liberty, a private Christian school in Lynchburg, Va., sometime in January, according to Hinterthan.
Whether he will continue to entertain offers from the larger Division I schools remains a question mark, but Hinterthan believes Liberty's staff has done a great job making Curry feel like a priority.
“He's a Division I kid for sure,” Hinterthan said. “When he (officially) qualifies I think a lot of other schools will get in on him.
I like.
I'm just going to assume he can catch the ball really well.... he doesn't decommit then go somewhere else...

His natural throwing mechanics and technique look better than Brown's in the video. However, he seems to have that mentality of scrambling first a lot. Looks like a really good prospect to come in and redshirt his first year under a guy (MB) that he plays a lot like. He just looks like one of the guys that has the "it" factor. Let's just hope we can hold his commitment and that these other schools dont offer him a QB spot.

He has amazing touch with the ball...the last video we got to see a lot of the athleticism and speed but in the 09 video he made some very good throws in addition to his ability to keep a play alive.

Great athleticism on display in the video, but the lyrics are awful.

He's the last known commit without a letter left.

It looks as if we might get "shafted" by another Curry

Little too early to jump to that conclusion.

Yeah but if he has waited this long to send his letter he must be having second thoughts on commuting to us or maybe even Teoy might have now. Like someone said I hope we didn't get shafted by another curry. I'm a little worried right now. He would definitley make an impact in the long term in our program.

I think it's safe to say that we're at a place right now where one player isn't going to make or break us. It would be nice to have Curry here but if he chooses to go elsewhere, our cupboard isn't bare.

If we're being pessimistic, maybe the fact that we signed Gabe is making him think twice about his chances at QB here?

Chill out guys...not everybody gets their letter in right at the sounding of the first hour of signing day. I mean we get letters as late as an hour before the press conference. and besides, just because his letter is in does not always mean he is waffling...with as much technology as we have now the fax machine is our biggest friend on days like this

Or he could be waiting until lunch time to have his "press conference" so his parents can be there.
Or he could be waiting until the news can be there because they're at another school this morning.
