"You've got a guy who runs a sub-4.6 (seconds) in the 40-yard dash playing defensive end," Vogt said of Kearse, who was timed in the 40 in 4.49 seconds. "That made coaching the secondary easy, because you know the quarterback is not going to have any time to throw the ball.

"I've given up trying to figure out what the recruiters are looking at. I can't figure them out."

Kearse said he has offers from Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee State and Liberty, but he's holding out in hopes of a top Division I bid.

"I hope to get more schools looking at me," Kearse said. "I just want to do a good job."
