Mike London, Richmond's head coach, has apparently been offered the UVA head-coaching position. If he takes it, someone on here mentioned that Danny Rocco might be considered for Richmond's job. I hope he doesn't leave for at least another two years. Liberty should be able to make a playoff run if he sticks around for another year or two . . .

First off, welcome to our humble corner...second, we already considered that in another thread and I said there that if Coach Rocco goes to another I-AA/FCS school (even as one as good as Richmond) it still would be a lateral move at best. Coach Rocco if he goes anywhere will want to go to a I-A/FBS program (he has been mentioned as a possible candidate for Wake if Jim Grobe goes anywhere)

**Update: As of 9:30 p.m., UVA's athletics website was reporting that the school would hold a football press conference at 1 p.m. Monday. Several Charlottesville media outlets were reporting that the school would introduce London as its new coach at that time.

I said Richmond might come calling, but I seriously doubt it. The payday would have to be really nice for Rocco to commit at least 3 more years of his career at the FCS level and start fresh again.

If it's true that London has been offered the job by UVA, you can bet that he will take it.
1. He'd be stupid not to.
2. A program doesn't offer a candidate unless they know for a fact he will accept.

Actually jobs are offered at major programs regularly that are turned down. In this case they know they are giving a guy a shot at the big time and he'll very likely accept.

There is ZERO chance we'll lose Coach Rocco to another I-AA.

This might actually help us with some recruits we were chasing who wound up committing to the Spiders.
