Keep your eye on Danny Rocco, the head coach at Liberty University. Rocco has a wealth of experience via stints at Wake Forest, Colorado, Tulsa, Boston College, Texas, Maryland, Virginia and the NFL's New York Jets.

It's a legitimate rumor

I'm no where near the mountain anymore, and am just a casual follower of Liberty athletics now, but the more I read Rocco's name in teams searching for a new head coach, the more I feel that Liberty is going to have to start searching for a replacement soon! Perhaps I'm just buying into the hype, but it seems that Rocco is going to be offered a job soon that will probably draw him away from Liberty.

We shall see! Hopefully he'll be on the Liberty sideline this time next year in the tournament!!

Could be the case, but I think he'll be here at least 2 more seasons.

I obviously think he will go on to do great things at another program one day, but I really don't see how, at this point in his career, an AD can get past the fact that we have not been to the playoffs yet. I mean what about all of these supposedly dominant CAA programs? Are their coaches not interested in leaving FCS?

Mickey Matthews from JMU has also been rumored for the Marshall job. I think Mickey played football at Marshall, or maybe he was an assistant there.

Richmond's coach London has been rumored for several jobs. Rocco's not the only coach out there in FCS schools are gunning for.

That was posted yesterday at 3:21 PM.

I guess we'll find out.

With a talent like Danny, I assure you that JB has had a plan in place for quite some time to deal with this eventuality.

Yeah, if this does happen (which if it's not this year, I'm sure it will be fairly soon) I feel confident about our future coach and program.

OK. I just had 2 thoughts.

1. If Rocco takes this job, I do not fault him and forever remember him with a proud smile.

2. If he takes anyone with him (say a certain QB), I will dispise him forever.

OK not really, but it would hurt.

I'd doubt that would happen. Look at it from Mike's perspective. He has 2 years of eligibililty left. If he transfers, he loses one. Wouldn't be a very good move for Mike IMO.

I've already told you I don't think he's going anywhere anytime soon unless it's a BCS level school, and I don't see a BCS level school coming for him yet.

Well, based on what we've seen so far in basketball, that might have been getting out while the getting was good. Football, on the other hand, looks great for next year.

See that's the problem with working and posting on here. When there's rumors going around, people look to the employees to get answers. When we dont have answers, people think we're just holding out and trying to delay something.

Or they don't remember that a lot of the stuff we hear can't be posted on here.

I remember someone here (HMO maybe?) saying a while back that if Rocco left we would "throw a bunch of money at one of the Bowdens". Whuda thunk that Bobby would be the one "available".

Personally, I don't see Rocco leaving for the Marshall job, but who knows?

Come on now. We're already looking for replacements?

He's here to interview as assistant coach... Head coach in waiting... He's going to Bowden's Jimbo Fisher.

I hope there are not any Marshall announcements made soon. This looks like my entertainment for the day.
