"Rodriguez Jones is a jump-ball receiver," Simon said. "Lavon Pearson, 20 yards out there, he'll just go get the ball. Nate's hands are magnificent. You can throw it behind him, and he'll still catch it. We have dominant receivers."

Coming into the season, only Jones was a known commodity around the Peninsula District. He was an All-PD receiver as a sophomore last year with 33 receptions. Harris knew Jones would draw double-team coverage this year. And he knew someone else would need to step forward.

Pearson and Matthews have. Pearson caught seven passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in Denbigh's season-opening win over Heritage. Matthews had three catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns in last week's win over Granby.

"They tried to double-team me," Jones said. "Then Nate cut across the field, and it's a touchdown. I love our receiving corps because if you double-team me, Lavon will be open or Nate will be open. It's the best thing that can happen to us, really."
