When does that happen today? Jeff Barber twittered about it happening today. Does anyone have the inside scoop on it?

I don't think it is happening until next week due to LCAs playoff game Friday night unless I heard wrong.

True. They usually host the state playoffs for VHSA as well. Not sure if they are this year or not.

And this was in Lang's story about Duffie retiring: "And after LCA’s season ends, the press box in which Duffie has announced from for the last 20 years will be destroyed to make way for a new, multi-level press box."

Are you able to find out for sure? I guess we could call athletics and find out.

It's not coming down today. It'll be at least another week before it's out of here.

VHSL playoffs not in Lynchburg this year. Blacksburg, Charlottesville and Salem for 2009.

As for LCA playoffs, we're ranked #2 and play #3 Potomac this Friday night. We'd have to win (likely!) and #4 would have to knock off #1 (not likely) to have another game at home.

But they are already packing up the temporary sky boxes: the fabric tops are already down.

Ya, they won't need them for the playoffs.

Demolition can begin any time now. LCA demolished Potomac on Friday night, 63-0, but LCA will play away next Saturday Nov 21, as #1 seed Collegiate knocked off #4 FUMA.

You know what I just thought about, LCA really screwed over LU and the memorial of the berlin wall. Would it not have been epic to recreate the tearing down of the wall by having charles billingsley singing from atop the press box while students and staff hammered the thing down? Added bonus = free demolition.

Only if they made CB stay on top of the press box while it collapsed. THAT would be the greatest contribution LU has made to Christian music since .... ever?

Only if he wore the piano light up jacket and scarf. that would have been epic.
in all seriousness though thats a legal liability for the school no way they let students demo the box.

I saw this on Jeff Barber's Twitter:
Afternoon meetings with architects on football expansion. Great progress being made.
Since there has been no demolition as of yet, does this imply that they are still working out the final design?

Any project like this is a work in progress...I'm sure steps 1 through 50 are finalized but 50 through 100 are not. That's normal.

Ok, I expect a full report, with pics, all off-season on the progress.

Agree with MANSON & repeating my demand for a steady cam to stream this. In real time.
I suggested mounting it atop the jumbo tron.
seems to me LIB had several cameras he's not using right now. Get to it.

Regarding students destroying things...way back when I went to LU in '97...at homecomming they had a car painted in Hampton Colors (I think it was that team...from the MEAC...they took the glass windows out and everything). For $2, you could hit it with a hammer.
I did...but it didn't do much...and I don't think it was really that safe - I don't think they even took the headlights out. I worked work study two years at UPJ before I transferred...and we were smashing up floor tiles with a hammer (they were those old small red floor tiles...probably had asbestos in them)...anyway, it was that tile on concrete...and once I hit it and it bounced back and hit me in the head pretty hard...thought I was going to pass out...but was OK.
But I have a better free way to get it down. Couldn't we get Mythbusters to do some kind of experiement with our pressbox...and in the end they could blow it up? The discover channel already came down here to tape the snowflex, so they should know where we're at.

A guy in our dorm was abandoning with worthless non working car in the keyhole parking lot at the end of the year so we got a bat and destroyed it with his permission. It was a very large crowd of people beating on a car. I got to break the rear windshield which is surprisingly difficult. We all got in a lot of trouble.
