This might be my first road game outside the state of Virginia so I am pretty stoked. As for the game, the last two years you really had to worry about a "let down" game with Liberty. Even though our wins haven't been pretty, I have yet to see evidence of the Flames overlooking an opponent and I do not see that trend changing.

I know it's been two years but I really feel like we just played down there. I'm not sure why.

Haha, I love the pic of their stadium. They let the water and trees block out all the "crap" parts of their stadium.

If you've never been and you're going, pack a GPS. Once you get past Charlotte, you'd think you were in Deliverance country. The town has 8 stop lights, but they are seriously all at the same intersection. And look for all the non-smoking signs on-campus.
I had planned on going, but now I'm leading a fieldtrip to Barter Theatre that weekend. Study

The post office in boiling springs looks like a postage stamp. I'm being serious.

Yeah, but they have a real observatory on their campus. :(

I interviewed at a church in Boiling Springs a few years ago...and yikes. What an interesting place.

I don't think you could pay me enough to go back.

other than joking on their campus and stadium, im gonna stick by the theme that im worried a bit about this game because it has worked for me every week. seriously though, does the fact we were kicking FG's instead of getting touchdowns bother anyone this late in the season??

It would bother me more if our defense weren't playing so well. if we could get our early season offense and our recent defense to show up the same week ... let's just say it could get ugly for somebody in Boiling Springs or Long Island.

No. We were mainly running the ball at that point instead of throwing much. They put up an 8-man front to stop it. They stopped it, so we trotted out what might be the best FCS kicker in the country and kicked three.

He's like a machine. His form is identical on every kick, and he looks so stinking confident every time.

And, no it doesn't bother me. If we couldn't put it in the endzone at all, then yes, it's and issue.

It sounds like Coach Rocco is very confident in his abilities... and to think he's just a Soph. It sure is nice to expect three when we don't punch it in; conversely, it must suck to be reasonably sure that your opponent will probably score if they get inside the 30.

Safe travels to all who are coming to Boiling Springs on Saturday. I am looking foward to finally seeing the Flames in person against our Runnin' Bulldogs!. We are trying to recover after two consecutive losses. The loss to Stony Brook was not as unexpected as the loss to Coastal. Stony Brook played a manly brand of football. The Coastal loss was a direct result of 4 ints [after throwing only a couple all year] and an inability to stop a game winning drive late in the game. I look forward to seeing all of you folks in Spangler Stadium on Saturday. I'm hopeful that you travel better than the rest of the Big South. We haven't seen many butts in the visitors section this year. By the way, the pic below shows LB Marty Patterson in action. You will want to watch him. He plays football the way it was meant to be played.

Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

elcid83 - Thanks for coming to the board. And Patterson's numbers are eye-popping so I expect we'll see plenty of him Saturday.

I have to agree with bigsmooth with the premise that I'm a little worried about this game. I think most of us have a worried feeling about a road game because:

1. It's late in the season and we're clearly the best team in the conf. so all the pressure is on us to win out
2. It's a road conf. game
3. So much can go wrong especially when everything is going so right. *'08*

I just hope our guys don't dwell too much on the blowout against VMI and think we'll do the same at G-W. Rocco should do a great job of getting them mentally prepared though.
Go Flames!

He's a ridiculous 13-14 from 30 yards out and 6-7 from 40 yards out. He's nearly automatic at this points.

It was only yesterday we couldn't rely on a K for an extra point, let alone a 40 yard FG.

Its the yearly downfall of GW. I'm surprised more of you guys didn't see it coming. GW always tails off after starting strong in conference. its like the tide. I don't know if its a coaching thing or a strength and conditioning thing. or they just don't know how to finish a season. I don't know.
