We've got to start taking the ball into the end zone when we get the chance. I'm thrilled that Matt "No L" Bevins ( ) got the Big South record tonight, but a couple of those 3s should have been 7s.

More than a couple. He has been money and I'm thrilled to death with him. But we need to be cashing in more in the red zone.

Then again, who can complain with that score?

I would've liked to have seen us run the ball better and we'll need to have a run game the next two weeks on the road.

Agreed. Kind of scary that we can't punch it in at this point in the season.

At the same time, lets remember the offense that was out there for those drives and the fact that it wasnt our starters, it was Brennan and Holloway, who yes, will be good, but that doesnt necessarily a bad sign

It should also be noted that after the awful 1st quarter, our defense's aggressive nature forced most of the turnovers and their play shouldn't be dismissed simply because VMI was sloppy.

I've mentioned this on Twitter but I am really surprised that kids who play for a school where discipline is so intense would have such troubles with the fundamentals. You would expect VMI kids to be so mentally tough that turnovers would be anomaly for them instead of the norm. It is truly puzzling.

Congrats on the victory, and merry Christmas  . I have no idea what happened to us the final 22 or so minutes :dontgetit . That wasn't the same squad that played like heck the first period (or vs. U of R). The lousy screen pass that deflected into Childress's hands for the TD was the turning point, like the TV guys declared. Plus a turnover that LU converted into 7 points late in the 2nd period hurt VMI as well (just like the early KO return).

Three home conf. wins with 50+ points. But, please admit we gave you at least 24 of those :pray , unlike CCU and PC. Maypray had no business trying to field that final punt at the 6 :nono .

Good luck at Gard-Webb.........we'll try again at the USMA.

I agree with the comment about the defense causing alot of the turnovers...I really believe that we physically beat them up so much that they had QB issues, Maypray was exhausted, and our defense just kept coming at them.

One additional note, their second TD should of never happen except for the officials not calling a fumble when we clearly recovered the ball about our 5 yard line. Just think, that would have made it 54-7 and 9turnovers, more turnovers than points is never good :D

VMI didn't score on the blown non-turnover call. LU held them on 4th down inside the 5, so it ended up being a moot point.

Did anyone watch the game on MASN?

The footage from the sidelines with Coach Rocco looked great, but the footage from the high-up cameras showing the game was really bad. Hard to describe but the picture was even worse than last year with the lights and the old shinny turf. I'm wondering if it was a problem with MASN, because I don't recall the video feed ever looking so bad before, even compared to last year's turf. Again, I don't know if it was a problem with lighting, camera angles, or what.

why?? If we have better stuff then wouldn't it make sense and be cheaper for them to use ours? Maybe there is more to it that I don't know..but seems kind of pointless

bobcatturner wrote:FYI Did anybody hear the radio broadcast when Wade mentioned that the NCAA should look into the situation where after you leave the big programs ( if still eleigible) you can transfer to the 1AA schools and not wait out a year? I do not have his exact quote but it was something to that effect. Now that would effect Liberty and the other schools in 1AA and maybe is a good thing for schools like VMI to ask the NCAA to consider. Also may D-2 should just be D-1 as well.
Liberty is not any 40 points better than VMI and once they get rid of the turnover situation and the kickoff coverage issues they could have whipped Liberty. If the NCAA would require many of Liberty's players to wait out a year how many would they really get and would these players actually come to that school? Also I wonder how many of these transfer players actually graduate from Liberty with a legitimate degree not Bible teaching.

and really, no surprise. That's been the mantra all year. They've been in every game, no one is that much better than them, etc.
why - they beat all the big teams in the 50s, 60s and 70s - good times will soon be here again.

ok.

Here's a comment from gakeydete on VMI's message board that Super will like to hear:
-Liberty has a good thing going. That is a pretty cool 1AA college football environment. Of course, when God is on your side...
I hope he's from Georgia.

Emphasis far greater on Big South. Conference front office = too proud to admit LU has better TV circumstance.

Dear BSC Administration:

If you want LU on TV, great! Catch them on the road. They don't need your inferior assistance for home games.

Sincerely,
Those who understand TV production far better than you
