I'm going to throw out an observation here that may or may not get me killed.

It may be the fact that the team is dominated by youth and inexperience or the lack of total confidence with so many new starters. But it seems that this group of guys may have a hard time really getting jazzed up for a game. I say this as an observation after being at the 4 home games. The only one that seemed to be totally electric on the sideline was start to finish vs Coastal. Not coincidentally, this was by far the best we played. The other 3 home games, all of which we struggled at one point or another, it seemed to me that they just were not completely across the board FIRED up and not completely focused.

How could they not be more fired up for JMU, especially with the students being so fired up for 2 + hours? They were out there early warming up, and most seemed to be completely calm and quiet. This is a good thing, but can it be bad to be too calm and cool?

Intensity can lead to complete focus and therefore better play.

I haven't been to any of the away games this year, so I have no idea if this was a factor at Coastal or not.

I'm hoping however that we do not need any extra motivation this week other than last year's deisaster and revenge NOW.

Noone should take this as a lack of support for the coaches or the team as I am 100% on board. I just wondered if anyone else thought the spark was missing. I don't think anything is wrong per se just curious.

I was there at the JMU game, and yes it did appear that intensity was lacking for much of the game. It picked up at times or maybe it was me not focusing on that aspect about the team. Maybe it was the bad weather I am not sure. Interesting point though! I am interested in what others observed that are closer to the team than I am. You would think that the way JMU is playing now that it was a very winnable game for us.

I mentioned a few random stats in another thread but one thing that I noticed is that with the exception of the Elon loss (following the W&M game I think) LU has come out with a vengeance in the next game and played a full round of domination.

Maybe I'm confused, but I thought the first half performance against Coastal was rather uninspired as well.

Uninspired in the first half? Yes somewhat. But compared to JMU they were much more into it.

Dont paint with such a broad brush my friend...I think its safe to say that everyone here (well at least among the LU people) is quite happy to see us win. Really when we all looked at this year's team before the season started we weren't 100% sure what to expect and some weeks they have played over and above expectations and then some weeks they played down. I think if anything you cant really charge that we are "never happy"

Come on now. Dont tell me you werent disappointed with the Chuck South game. They played terrible. Coaches, players, everyone had their role in making that game into a game. We should have run the off the field.

I don't think its a major issue yet. They're young and inconsistent.
