Here's our current depth chart at linebacker:

OLB Wes Cheek Sr
Marques Jenkins Fr

MLB Doncel Bolt Jr
Pierre Tinsley Jr

MLB Chad Brown Jr
Kyle O'Donnell Jr

OLB Ian Childress Sr
Demetrius Ward Fr

I'm concerned that in 2 years our MLBs, the heart of our defense, will be greatly inexperienced. We have 4 VERY good MLBs right now, but they are all JRs. I know we will more than likely have a couple come in as Freshman next year, but they will probably not see the field ahead of these 4. My question is, should we redshirt one of these 4 next year? And if so who?

Uh, Chad Brown stepped up last year at middle linebacker when none of us had even heard of him.

I expected that. Of course I’m not worried. Really just trying to get some discussion on it.

The only option here to redshirt is Doncell and that's not happening. At this point two seasons ago, no one thought Wes Cheek would be our best LB.

We are getting solid recruits. If there is a gap that needs to be filled, the coaching staff will be able to find transfers that can step in.
