I recorded and watched the Charleston Southern - Gardner Webb last night. I am not sure if Charleston Southern played better than expected or if GW is not as good as I thought they were. At times, GW seemed to be the dominant team, but it was never reflected in the score. CS stayed close and scored a touchdown to tie it up in the last few minutes of the game. The CS defense gave up an drive in the last two minutes that appeared conciliatory. Next week's game against Liberty is not going to be close if Liberty takes care of the football. We have more talent and we are deeper. Turnovers are the only way the game does not become a blowout.

Wow, that loss to Woffy looks really embarassing now.

If the weather is good and Mrs. WinthropEagleFan doesn't put too much on my to-do list, I plan on being in attendance for the game. Any of you guys going to be heading down for this one?

Anyway, I watched the CSU/GWU game too...CSU's QB had an awful day throwing the ball...I don't think he had more than two or three throws on target...the rest were way off the mark. He was much more accurate against Florida, so not sure who the real AJ is. He's actually not a bad runner on designed draws and things like that. Stevenson is their only real playmaker. Their kicker is pretty solid too...but their defense has a lot of holes. Unless CSU wins the turnover battle, they'll have a hard time winning this one.

So, realistic chance of us beating out UF or USF for worst/biggest blow-out win against Chuck this year??
I do feel pretty bad for CSU though. I'm glad they still have a healthy team after their first 3 weeks of play.

The only thing that concerns me this week is our team being complacent after dominating Coastal. I mean it's pretty simple to be focused for Coastal, but to be focused on CSUcks after that performance Saturday? Not easy.

Never forget 11/1/08

Definitely a trap game to say the least. Look at last year...we destroyed CSU 42-0 on Homecoming, then went out the very next week, played Presbyterian...and lost 31-28. The guys need to get their heads right this week and go out and dominate

You're right, we need to be as dominate as we were against Coastal and bring that no mercy type of football, specially if we want to even be a blimp on the playoffs radar... No close games for the rest of the season... just blow outs... I think Rocco knows that after running Coastal in to the ground...

I agree that Chuck south is a trap game. Poor atmosphere, small crowds, etc. I think if LU coaches have learned anything about the Big South is that there is going to be a couple of games like this each year. They missed last year with Presby, I would be shocked if this happens again. Get over this one and the next two are at home. Win these three and the last two they won't have any problem focusing with a conference title on the line and a possible playoff berth.

I'll be watching this from my laptop in Maryland. I think Rocco will have the troops primed and ready for this game, unlike Presby.

That 2005 game was mind-blowing. Liberty was just awful but led by 12 points in the fourth quarter on the road ... then promptly blew the lead. They found different ways to lose each week that year...

i like how every game we have (in football, basketball or even baseball), someone, usually the same person, says its a trap game.

Hah, we're republicans here. We use Concealed Carry Permits, not restraining orders. RO's are for wimps and liberals.
