Chris Lang wrote:* Another recruiting note: ATH/DB Brandon Stegall, who plays for head coach Mike Minter at First Assembly Christian in Concord, N.C., will be on campus this weekend for an unofficial visit. Stegall visited North Carolina last weekend and his parents both have family in the Lynchburg area. Minter is a former Carolina Panthers defensive back.

And from the Charlotte fishwrap ...
Charlotte Observer wrote:Brandon Stegall, a senior, had missed all of the summer camps and combines with mononucleosis and slipped off of recruiters' radar. Stegall, Minter said, would be shifted to cornerback for Friday's game with Durham Mount Zion and would cover receiver Tehvyn Brantley, a likely North Carolina commitment who had been offered a Tar Heels scholarship.
Minter wasn't kidding.
Friday, in First Assembly's 26-0 win, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Stegall shadowed 5-8, 165-pound Brantley everywhere.
Few top-ranked defenders have been able to stop Brantley at camps and combines this summer, but Stegall held him to no catches.
Mount Zion threw to Brantley five times, and Stegall broke them all up. At one point, Minter said, Stegall hit Brantley so hard that he knocked his helmet off.
“After the game, that kid told Brandon that he was the best DB he ever played against,” Minter said.
Stegall also played quarterback, and rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns out of the spread offense.
“Now Carolina wants film on both players,” Minter said. “I'm getting Brandon's in the mail today.”
According to Brandon's father, Randy, a large number of schools, including Virginia Tech, N.C. State, Duke and Florida State, had expressed interest in his son, but the mono threw everything off track.
Now things should pick up again.
“He's Mr. Everything,” Minter said. “He's our starting quarterback – we run the spread and he rushed for over 1,200 yards last year – and a starting safety. I think he'll be an excellent Division I safety in college.”

Where are we on this kid???
Coached by former NFL All-Pro safety Mike Minter, All-State DB, plays QB & WR too, recruited by D1's, is all over the recruiting sites and led them to a 2nd state championship in 2 years!
He visited early, Charlotte rag even said he has family in Lynchburg ....
PLEASE tell me we're not going to lose him to Gardner-Webb ... thought he was a lock if he didn't go to a [correction] BCS school.

Just saying ... VTech - NC State - UNC, ok, I can deal with that.
BUT why are we letting a Gardner-Webb even position themself to recruit this kid????
If he has ties to Lynchburg and is this solid - HE SHOULD BE A FLAME!

You're freaking out about him visiting Gardner-Webb but not 3-8 Wofford, Division II Catawba, and even worse Division III Greensboro?

Rivals doesn't even show us as an option.... I doubt we should be worried about G-W when FSU, VT, UNC, WVU, Duke etc. are all in the mix. So he has Lynchburg ties, does that mean anything?

If it was this easy, we'd get every recruit.
Calm down and let the process work itself out.

Sorry got side-tracked, seems like he would be a good fit at LU ... just wondered where we are on him?

Nothing is really settled until a kid puts his name on paper, so as of now we're just a school on his list, and he's a player on our list, as far as we know.
