I was just on libertyflames.com and I saw that. I am proud that the guys cracked the TOP 25. Way to go, Flames! Keep it rolling! (I never knew getting a loss would put ya in the top 25. LOL)

Richmond beats Duke and is ranked number 1, W&M beats UVA and is ranked 7th... :dontgetit

Meanwhile Appy St. loses and is 2, we play WVU to within 13 and are 24th/not ranked... :dontgetit :dontgetit :dontgetit

Pretty much as long as you dont lose to an equal level team you wont move after week 1. Playing well doesnt really make a difference. Either way itll all pan out probably around mid October when we start playing FCS schools(enough to get a guage of where teams are at)

Appy State almost beat an FBS school. ECU is actually a pretty good team. So that's why they didn't need to drop. But I agree with making Richmond number one because they crushed Duke and the are defending national champs. William and Mary deserved to move up, but not much because UVA is going to be horrible this year. Duke might even beat them again this year! haha.

And we have the chance to prove ourselves in the next 2 weeks with NC Central and Laffy. If we are 2-1 after the next 2 weeks we will move up alot. Plus we can't complain about not being ranked with an 0-1 record...

yeah, the only way we crack the top ten this year is if we win out and pretty much roll over all our competition and beat them by a few scores each game. We also probably need to put up 30+ points a game to go any higher than around 15th, IMHO...

Probably not going to happen. But here's to hoping!

It’s too early to tell how the polls will shake out. If JMU beats Maryland, and then we beat JMU I could see us jump into the top 15 at that point (obviously we have to beat NCCU & Laffy first). We would be 3-1 with one decent win, a good win, and a “good loss.”
#272696
You guys know we just set ourselves up for crushing disappointment when, after one game, we're talking about how to move up in rankings and even THINKING of running the table.

I'm as impressed with the team's potential as anyone but I prefer cautious optimism. Maybe even hopeful pessimism.

Then again, I haven't had any WAWA coffee today.

We should be ranked higher, but it's just so hard to move up to fast in polls, because no body wants to move people down. If we can just take care of business - the polls will take care of themselves. We would of made the playoffs and finished top 10 if it wasn't for playing lousy at PC.

I think we still make playoffs if we lose to JMU and beat everyone else. I think we can beat JMU at home though, but Lafayette and SB both scare me also. I think it's hard to believe, but I think this year's team is better than last years team:) Love what Beecher brings (CONFIDENCE and POISE). Would love to see Freddie involved more and Allen needs to just start - he's that good. Worried that we might overuse Brown though - somebody needs to hold kicks and handle his duties on kick returns (defensively).

Mike holding kicks gives us great options for a fake. He can pick up the ball and have the speed to get to the outside whereas Rocco or Brennan probably wouldn't have the speed. Our only options for a fake with Brennan or Rocco holding would be to throw or do a reverse/pitch type of play.

I think he'll be fine from now on. Against WVU he had to pretty much carry the whole team on his back. From now on, he shouldn't have THAT much pressure on him.

Appy St. - We almost beat an FBS school... The same school that plays ECU next weekend. What happens if WVU beats ECU by more than 13? Does that bump us ahead of Appy St.? Probably not - although in a perfect world it would.

Richmond beat, well...Duke... so what? Yes they were National Champs last year, but that was LAST YEAR. Just saying. (and lets be real... it was DUKE!!!!)

W&M should be higher IMO, lets be real, they DID beat an FBS team, which should be worth more than beating an FCS team (right?)

How many times since Rocco has been coach have we faked a fg?

probably about as many conference games as we've lost...

It appears your intel was on the mark.
