The Big South Conference is less than ten years old. Up until two years ago, we only have five teams in the league. The NCAA mandates a conference have six playoff eligible teams for two years before they get an automatic bid. Two years ago we added Presbyterian and Stony Brook. Next year we'll have an automatic bid to the playoffs.

Not enough teams in the conference for a specified time period. I think it is 5 years.

i didn't want to get anything started, my son asked me if i knew why they didn't get auto birth and i told him i would ask the experts. liberty is the first school to offer him so far, and when you are going to make a decision that is going to effect you the rest of your life you want to get all the info you can get. the only reason i mentioned he had an offer was so that i could get a legit answer. thanks for the info

Oh, you didn't start anything. We just don't like him and he's completely condescending to everything Liberty so we say stuff like that all the time to him.

Thanks for clarifying Nick's status. By the time he would show up on our campus we would be auto bid-eligible. That's all he'll need to know.

Wouldn't the stadium seat about 18,600 his freshman year and close to 30,000 by the time he's a senior in college? Like Sly said, his team's conference would have an automatic bid every year by the time he arrived on campus.

And if he likes to ski or snowboard... 8)

It hadn't occurred to me til now, but I'm thinking there is going to be a humongous invisible "Off Limits to Scholarship Athletes" sign at the entrance to the ski slope.

This was a conversation I had with the parents of a potential LU athlete a few months ago as construction closed in. Frankly Snowflex's primary benefit in recruiting athletes has more to do with selling the parents on the experience of visiting their kid than the athletes themselves.
