For most schools, this will be the final year for media guides. After this, they will become brochures, while most information will be relegated to the Web, and teams will use recruiting guides.

I was reading Phil Steele's college preview yesterday and about our game he said that EV has won by an average of I think 29 pts.

Who is EV and 2 pts against what team?

I meant WV (small error on my part) and it was more in reference to WVU's home openers (I think the last 8)

The Mountaineers have outscored I-AA/FCS opponents 236-48 since 2000 (the closest game was 48-21 last year vs. Villanova)

Very true. Media guides are gradually being phased out because they are a gigantic waste of money and don't serve the purpose of their intended audience, which is the media.

Cover doesn't have to be overly creative anyways. Not everyone's goal is to have the best looking cover or win the award for best cover, some sports info shops would rather have the best content and would rather focus on the inside which composes 99% of the guide as opposed to spending a long time making a fancy cover and win the award for best media guide. Then there are others who could give a crap less about awards for archaic publications and focus more of their time and energy on improving their most valuable tool: their website...

Well, now's the time to change the course of history

And I agree with what Champion said (and I have no idea why I have a good feeling)

Johnny Raincloud checking in here. I just hope nobody gets injured. If that happens and we score a couple of times, I'll call it a good day.

I wish I was that confident... I've seen what IA teams do to IAA teams...not mentioned ranked 1A teams... there has been only one 1AA win against ranked a 1A ranked team and we all remember that game(mich vs appy st.)

Talk about an up hill battle already.

In my previous quote I was not neccesarily refering to a "Win". I total agree with the above post. If we play well and get home healthy then I'll be really happy. A win would be nice, but a credible showing is important.

an outcome similar to the Wake game would be fine by me.

Having Greiser for another year would also be fine by me.

...sigh

I'm kind of hoping it will be a little better than Wake. I hope we are within two scores. That would really get us some respect I think...

Hey Guys,

New to your board and want to say that I'm looking forward to a good game (no injuries on either side - and good competetion). About that good feeling some of you are having... I hope you're wrong, but I've learned to never say never :)

Uh, thanks, but we tend to run our expectations about 10 times too high around here. I'll take a single score and no injuries, and I'm a homer.

I was just thinking about this - Has WVU ever beaten LU in anything?

I know we beat them twice in girls basketball when the Wilkersons and Rick Reaves were here.

I know we used to also whip up on their DII club hockey team and I don't know if we played their dI club team, but we're always ranked ahead of them in hockey...

That's the only times I remember LU playing WVU. I don't know if we ever played them in anything else? soccer/baseball/lacrosse/etc?

Anyway, if that's any motivation - the football team needs to keep our unbeaten streak against WVU alive! :)

Thinking more...I think we played WVU in girls basketball 3 times and lost once...but I don't have media guide, so I'm not really sure...but I'll bet we still have an overall winning percentage against WVU.

You are correct. The media guide says we played them three times and lost once, and we won the last meeting in 2001, 78-67.

GO FLAMES!

Having now examined this guide, you're kidding yourself if you think their guide isn't great. The pic doesn't do it justice; you'd have to hold it to understand.

PS-LU's is VERY good, too.

Didn't see this posted anywhere, but for those not going to the game it will be apart of ESPN Gameplan and shown on channel 788. For those of you who have the Sports package on Directv or Dish you should be able to watch the game on channel 625 (Directv not sure which channel it is on Dish) on SNY...Normally that channel is not blacked out, but worse case you can wait til 12:00 and if it is then pay the $ to have Gameplan for the day.... And if you don't have either of those I know all of the major cable outlets should....In a nutshell this game might be the easiest LU football game to watch on TV.

if ESPN is carrying it in some capacity, would it be on ESPN360?
