So what I take away from this is that the coaching staff has a good amount of confidence in Tommy Beecher becuase if Mike Brown gets hurt, he is #1. I do find it interesting that Mike Brown makes up 2/3 of the roster

Mike Brown can kill two stones with one bird.

We have nine linebackers that have a legit chance to get quality playing time. That's insane. Our special teams are going to be nasty.

Now that I'm looking at this thing, we are young but we really have a good chance to do some great things this year. I am so stoked for the season to begin!

Don't like the thoughts of Mike Brown being kick/punt returner, but have to trust coach.

We have more questions than we've ever had under Coach Rocco.
The potential answers are better than they've ever been.
We've got so much talent on this team. It's insane. It's all a matter of them playing and practicing hard all of the time and doing the things mentally. This team has the physical ability to be great.

I wonder why one of the other receivers aren't doing that?

Did you notice it said "or" after Mike at PR/KR? It means that there are a quite a few guys battling for the #1 spot at PR/KR and Mike is one of those guys.

But could Brown be over extending himself by trying out for all those positions? Shouldn't he be focusing just on the QB position?

How hard is it to "try out" for kick returner or punt returner? He already knows the WR spot. So he is concentrating on the QB spot.
Anyone remember who was "trying out" for punter at this time last year? I don't think it affected him.
And if Mike wins the starting QB spot, he won't be a returner.

Just from a quick look at the depth chart, it's interesting that Terry Williams and Terron Lawrence aren't even listed. I understand Terry's hurt, but I guess these freshman (Holloway and Barnett) are that good.
Also, what happened to Tassara? I know this isn't the full roster, but is he still on the team? If he is I would have thought he would be listed as a backup at one of the tackles.

Maybe you can't say or dont' know....but is that a choice or due injury?

It's his knee. I've talked to him a lot since he got hurt last year and it was just a really bad injury. He's just now back to jogging a little bit. I hate it for him.

It is a shame about Terry since he was highly regarded coming out of high school. I hope that he recovers from this. By the way the roster for 2009 is in the process of being posted for 2009. I checked and last name letters A through D are in there but nothing else. That would answer some questions about who is coming back with regard to the depth chart (Tassara, Lawrence, and others).

Tassara is not on the roster. Lawrence is.

WOW, just saw on your blog that Sir Chauncey dropped the Sir. Bummer. Another fun name is gone. I still wish Rockarious King had come too.

Didn't I hear that the players are reporting today? Anything buzzing around campus. Help a guy out with his football withdrawl will ya?

Tassara has had a multitude of injuries between a torn pec and more recently something with his back. Last I talked to him he didn't seem optimistic about playing again, so I'm not so surprised.

We may have had more know commidities last year (transfers, proven players, etc.) but the actual talent level may be higher this season. It should be an exciting season with all these new faces showing what they can do. My only wish is that the 2008 Flames could have played this schedule... only bc I wanted a shot at WVU and JMU. Go Flames!

If Randy Moss did it for Marshall, I think Mike Brown will be okay doing special teams for LU.
