Judging by size alone, DJ Sellman should start right away. That's a big boy. If he has the skills to back up that size, he might be a 4 year starter...

He won't redshirt this year. That's a sure thing.

The three I think most likely to start would be Mosier, Cosby and Weaver. Mosier and Weaver are the other two offensive captains (along with Mike Brown) and Cosby played behind Mike Godsil at center (and madmat's boy is back helping out with the O-line this season). Sellman is a very big boy and I would not be surprised if he got the other tackle position. CHL made a very good point when he said that if he (Sellman) has the skills to back up that size that he has the potential to be a 4 year starter on the line. He really could be someone who could be a real anchor at his position as Godsil was at center over his four years

Center is still a big question in my mind. I dont know if Cosby can play at a level we need him to. Lets hope he has a good camp.

You guys are forgetting about Justin Vargas and Alex Stadler. Someone would have to dethrone them to get their starting spots.

Yay, someone actually remembered we had returning starters. Good job.

I finally got this. Yeah, I'm slow.

Thanks for that jc. I was sitting here thinking about my last post and Stadler was my 5th on the line. really with him and Vargas back means that you have 3 spots on the starting line and then second string at all those positions so essentially you have 13 guys possibly battling for 8 positions

I thought that Sellman already redshirted. We recruited him 2 years ago.

Sellman signed in 08 (http://www.libertyflames.com/index.cfm? ... 88&TeamID=) I saw in a story about the 09 class that he enrolled in August, but he's listed in teh 09 signing class as someone who arrived in January. I guess circumstances precluded him from being in class for a semester?

He's been here since August. It was a situation just like Terry Adams and a few other players (Steven Wilkes in that class as well) that just had to work on some school stuff before they could join the team. They worked their butts off, got their school stuff in order, and now they're able to join the team.

So the question of center still stands.... is mario capable of playing at the level we need him to. or shall we look else where.

On a side note, I have heard good things about the German that is now on the Offensive side of the ball. I think he may see some valuable back up minutes.

I want to put in a plug for Tim Hartman. He is a solid physical player and a senior who will provide backup at all 5 positions, a very valuable asset, especially at 6'5 320 lbs.

Chemistry and leadership will be the charge given to Mo and Weave.

You're going to need to be more specific. We're collecting Germans these days.

Soren Wendland sp? He was a DL and switched to OL. Maybe he can play center? haha...

Not too many 6'8" centers out there. I suspect Soren will be playing tackle.

I think his first name is Soeren.

Soren was an average defensive player, but he does have great size. It really depends on how hard he worked this summer that will determine the success of the switch. I'd call it a 50/50.
