You will have to start your drive up to Morgantown a little earlier with news that the season opener has been pushed up to noon in order to be carried on the Big East Network.
LibertyFlames.com wrote:Liberty football fans eager to see the start of the 2009 season will now have a few hours less to wait, as the West Virginia Athletics Department announced a game time change for its match-up with Liberty, Wednesday afternoon.

The Flames and the Mountaineers will now open their 2009 campaigns at Noon on Sept. 5 in Morgantown, W.Va. The contest, which will be played on Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium, was previously scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.

Here is a little more clarification:

My understanding that this is the old ESPN Regional package and it will likely be shown on ESPN360.

OK, you folks can spin this two ways:

(1) BAD MOJO - Morgantown probably resembles Hades-esque temperature levels at high noon on an early September day.

(2) GOOD MOJO - I remember a certain FCS team getting their opening road game at an FBS power moved to a noon start to accomodate a 'league network' to televise it a couple of years ago......then Appy kicked Big Blue Booty. The Big Least wants to air a 'sure win' for one of their conference's elite programs......how yummy would it be for LU to rock their world. WVU fans had better bring their :popcorn .

I hope this is for the final time (but I fear it's not): '09 WVU is not '07 UM.

Furthermore, and even more crucial: '09 LU is not '07 ASU. Any LU fan who disagrees with this is simply a shameless homer void of objective perspective. My hope would be that the large majority of LU fandom is above that.

I have hope that we can compete. I would hope that most of "LU fandom" would hope for the best and not write this game off before it is even played...at least have the confidence of our Big South fan from Gardner Webb!

WVU isn't as good as Michigan...

We are not as good as Appy State

Appy State still won't schedule us...

Gardner Webb almost beat Georgia Tech...

What does any of this have to do with LU beating WVU in Morgantown?? Go Flames!!

09' WVU will be better than "07 UM

you are correct

you are correct again

Yes they almost did. But GT started a 3rd string QB who had never run the option befored and who was as mobile as Super Jon in a leotard.

I'd be much more mobile in a leotard than I would be in normal clothes.

What's the general old hag reasoning if we're driving and only spending one night in a hotel? If it's a noon game, is it better to stay in Morgantown the night before the game or the night after the game?

If you're trying to make a hotel reservation now, you're going to struggle mightily.

Furthermore, every hotel in the vicinity has a two-night minimum on home game weekends.

I managed to get a room at the Fairfield in Fairmont about 16 miles south of Morgantown just for the one night, but that was a few weeks ago. Worth checking into. I reserved for the Friday night.

It would seem to me that Friday night would be your choice, CJ. Don't limit your options to Morgantown. If you wind up taking 79 up I'd try Clarksburg as well.

Incidentally, since there is no direct passage to Morgantown I am curious to see which way those of you who are driving are taking up. Are you heading up to Lexington and taking the goat paths up to 79 or are you heading north Maryland and heading west?

OK. So I'm trying to decide whether to go to this game. Does anyone know if Dish Network can pick up The Big East Network in any of its packages? This would help me decide.

I have no idea. I have DISH too, so I am HOPING somehow I can get the game. If you find out something, please let me know. I'll do the same for you.

Come on, guys, let's make this a ROAD TRIP. Don't be scared of driving through West Virginia. If you keep your windows rolled up and the AC on, you can't even hear the dueling banjos (that's for you, Fumble).

$45 for a ticket is a bit much.
