I'm going to make this an open discussion rather that a poll since there can be som many different views. As I read article after article on Rashad, I take note of the amount of print they give to Pittsburgh and the amount they give to LU. They may mention LU, but Pitt is always brought up to make him look legitimate. They always bring up the low level of competition he faced here.

So, my question is, will Rashad being drafted help out image / reputation at all?

I'm starting to lean towards no. Everyone just take LU as the place Rashad went because it was close to his dad. I love all the mentions and ink, but I think the readers may actually leave the articles and feel as though LU is even less competetive and smaller than they thought.

Your thoughts?

It may help a little but not as much as you would like to think. It would probably help us as much as when Eric Green went in the first round in 1989. That gave us some mention nationally but I don't think that it helped our recruiting all that much and the program really didn't take off as much as originally expeced. What I am saying is that just because of Rashaad getting drafted and all that our recruiting will improve but that is not the case.

It never hurts... like Steve said, it's a just a little sprinkle on top of the recruiting pitch. I'm sure Sam Gado's (small) success in the NFL helped, too -- but the truth is there's going to be no bigger boom for recruiting than developing a winning program.

A friend invited me to attend West Virginia's spring game this past week. They have a nice hall of fame area in their football operational center. In one large hallway, there are plaques from every NFL team and the players from WVU that played on them. Every recruit walks down that aisle. It was very impressive. Someday LU will have the same hallway with Rashad's name listed.

I'm pretty sure my fingerprint is engraved right around Vince's name.

Bottom line, if you have talent, you'll get noticed. You don't have to leave a trail of tears from Lynchburg to Durham, N.C. if you want to play pro.

I think this will do LU some good as far as PR goes because we can use that with recruits. We may not get top 100 blue chippers but some pretty decent players I think
(Side note: can we please stop throwing Mr Curry under the bus)

I hope I can visit the football op center when I visit Lynchburg for the July 4th celebration. From the pics, I think that looks nicer than the one at WVU. They have more names of course.

But I still have a few more good ones left... I haven't even started on the 'Frank Stallone' jokes.

There are certain things that will always be jokes. That will be one of them. There won't always be malice behind it, but there's always going to be jokes.
