It would be nice if we can afford to redshirt all of the linemen. Skill position players tend to be able to make the jump the best.

Once Beecher enrolls in school then we can add him to that list above.

I think Garner is a no brainer, coming from an elite FBS program with 2 years extra maturity and a skill set that seems made to order to help fill in the slack for the loss of Dom as both a WR and KR.

I'm sure Hilton will play.

At least one of the RBs, and I'm guessing it will be Holloway. I know we have some runners in the program now, but I just can't imagine there isn't PT for one of these newcomers.

I know it is SOP to redshirt O-linemen, but the word is that both Boyd and Weathrington are ready to play, so who knows? Maybe one of them will be the answer at Center.

Yea I forgot Hilton and Garner, but that makes my list to long. I just have a feeling we'll see Pat Kelly!

Another almost sure bet will be Robbie Cramer. Immediate need, and you don't give a schollie to a long snapper and not use him.

I say Cramer, Holloway, Garner, and Hilton.

If this was which ones will start Id say itll be an EXTREMELY short list...but my opinion as to who will play...

Malcolm Boyd, Robby Cramer (Pope was an amazing LS), DJ Edmond, Jay Weatherington, Ervin Garner, DJ Sellman, Pat Kelly and SirChauncey Holloway

You've got 3 Freshman O-linemen playing BJ. Not gunna happen. My guess is that 2 of those 3 will redshirt.

Garner, Hilton, Cramer, Halloway and Pat Kelly.

I think the rest RS, IMO.

Here is how I see it:

OL Sellman will play, either Boyd or Wheatherington will play unless we get a transfer then both will redshirt.

RB Holloway will play and could possibly start, and depending on Terry Williams health situation either 1 of the 3 true freshman will join the mix. By the way how is Terry Williams doing?

WR Garner and Hilton have a good chance of starting, Lewis will play

TE Wilkes will probably be a backup to Shaver, Fath could start unless he chooses to play linebacker and doesn't want to sit.

LS Cramer will come fill an immediate need

DB Vinson could start

I think all three will play but I do not think they will start. Boyd looks like the only freshman who could step in and start right away if he has a good summer but I think all three of them will have a chance to play this year.

What I mean is Lews is already enrolled so he will be participating in spring drills and may not want to redshirt.

I've gotta say some of you guys are really over the top in terms of predicting how many new guys are going to play. You'd think our cupboard was bare or something. We have some specific needs for sure. Long snapper and running back, and to a lesser extent WR. Do you know how many O-linemen with game experience we have? A lot, and if Wendland is moved from defense, that's another. There is no way all 3 Freshmen O-linemen will play. Keep in mind, this is the Danny Rocco who has said in the past that his goal was to redshirt the entire recruiting class. He won't be able to do that this year, but he's not going to waste a year of eligibility on a Freshman unless they are just too good to sit.

What he said.

If Pat Kelly plays next year, I've gotta wonder where Chris Summers fits in future plans for this program.

If we start the game in a 2 WR set, I say it will be Mike Brown and Hilton. Of course that is if Mike is not playing QB, but if HMO is right and Beecher is as good as here, I think Mike will be a WR. Garner will be the 3rd guy. Then Summers and Hayes, 2 players with totally different skill sets.

That would put Kelly as your 6th WR, and I don't think you burn a redshirt year for that on a guy who could be a starter down the road. I think Kelly only plays if he clearly beats out either Summers or Hilton, the other 2 big receivers. Since all 3 are here this Spring, we may have a good picture of that by the Spring game. I'm hoping Chris will step up and start to achieve his potential and Kelly can be redshirted.

If Kelly can redshirt then it might be best for him if he is going to be the 6th guy. Since he is enrolled right now wouldn't this be his redshirt year. I can't argue with Brown and Hilton being the starters and Garner, Summers, and Hayes the top backups. How about Crawford and Eden? Are they out of the picture?

You redshirt seasons so spring enrollees can absolutely redshirt this fall.

I highly doubt Crawford and Eden are out...I know Crawford can certainly contribute on the ST side as can Eden and I wouldnt write either of them off going into spring ball.

Crawford is no longer with us. Left school a long time ago. I had quite frankly forgotten about Eden. I've never seen him play, but SJ says he's good. Probably fighting with Hayes for PT, as they are both smallish, KR/WR types.

I didnt know Crawford was gone...what happened? (or is that not something that is a matter of the public record)

SJ posted about it a while back. He just upped and left apparently.
