VMI quarterback/slot back Tim Maypray (Madisonville, Ky.) and Liberty LB Nick Hursky (Carnegie, Pa.) have been named the Big South football Choice Hotels Offensive Player of the Week and New Balance Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for games played the final week of the 2008 regular-season, it was announced today by the Conference office. In addition, Liberty’s Special Teams Unit was named Special Teams Player of the Week, while Presbyterian defensive back Justin Bethel (Blythewood, S.C.) was tabbed Freshman of the Week.

Has that ever happened before where the whole unit gets honored?

Congratulations to Coach Wilt and the special teams. Coach, himself, is fun to watch on the sidelines...he gets more excited than the players.

I like the special teams being recognized as a unit. Between the punt return and perfect execution on field goals and extra point, it was well deserved by all.

Actually this is the second straight year that the entire Special Teams Unit has been honored
