Ok, some of the stuff I've read tonight is just plain out stupid.
Tonight hurt. It really did. You guys have every right to be angry, but some of the things being said are a little over the top.
To anyone wanting to leave the Big South: really? C'mon now. Our schedule is already set for next year. We can't leave for next year and we have an auto bid the year after that so really what's the point? Schedule a good non-conference schedule, win a couple of those games, win the Big South, and we're in the playoffs.
To anyone saying we'd have to go 11-0 or 10-1 next year to be in the discussion for the playoffs and even then we wouldn't get in: really? C'mon now. The playoffs are a long shot next year, but if we were to run the table in the league, beat NCCU, beat Lafayette, and beat whatever team we replace Iona with we would have a very good case and there's almost no way they keep us out.
To anyone saying the PC lost absolutely killed us: It hurt our chances, but it didn't kill them. USC is still top five in the nation and they lost to Oregon St. Florida is top 3 and lost to a crap team. Bad losses hurt, but in the end, they're only one loss.
To anyone talking crap about Maine: just stop. Yeah, I made my Facebook status something about Maine right after the selection show but I've since changed it. Maine did nothing wrong. It's not Maine's fault we're not in.
Ok, Jonathan, that's a good point, but who should I be mad at? Well, there are a few people:
Be mad at North Carolina Central. Had they not dropped us at the last minute in favor of Coastal, they would've been our game instead of Glenville St. We beat them, we're 9-2 in the eyes of the committee. Glenville St is actually a better team than NC Central, but Central is a Division I win.
Be mad at the athletic director from UMass. He is the chairman of the committee. He was the chairman of the committee last year. Before he became chairman, no conference had ever had more than four teams in the playoffs. His two years as chairman have seen five teams from the CAA get in.
If you're still mad about this thing and typing off of emotions instead of using your brain, do us all a favor and stop. Take a break for a day or two, and then come back. We've all had to do it at times. It is embarrassing to be a Liberty fan to see some of the stuff posted on AGS, especially from Knuckle and luflame15. Calm down, think this stuff through, and let's get back to using our brains on here at least a little bit.
