Dorman offensive lineman Malcolm Boyd (6-3, 270) committed to Liberty. Boyd was added to the Shrine Bowl roster in place of his injured teammate offensive lineman Brandon Thomas (6-4, 285). Thomas remains a Clemson commitment but plans to take an official visit to Florida in January. He also wants to visit Clemson, USC and North Carolina.

He will be playing in the South Carolina Shrine Bowl ...

Boyd, who was picked as an offensive lineman for the North-South all-star game, is an athletic lineman who the Cavaliers use as a pulling lineman in many instances.

Boyd (6-4, 270) will play in the Shrine Bowl game on Dec. 20 at Gibbs Stadium on the Wofford College campus along with teammate Walt Canty and three other local players.

BOYD EXPLORING OPTIONS: Dorman offensive lineman Malcolm Boyd has picked up an official offer from Coastal Carolina, he said Sunday.

Boyd (6-4, 270) says he has also been hearing from Wake Forest on a regular basis and lists the ACC school as his favorite.

The Shrine Bowl selection committed to Liberty University last month but indicated he would reopen his recruiting process if offered by the Demon Deacons.

“If Wake Forest offers, I’ll take it,” he said.

If we lose kids to BCS schools then so be it. But the fact we are battling these types of schools for kids on a regular basis shows how far we have come under Rocco. I much prefer losing kids to Wake as opposed to Newberry.

--Some official visits scheduled for this past weekend included LB Devin Wherry of South Pointe to S.C. State, RB Rockarius King of Timberland to S.C. State, OL Malcolm Boyd of Dorman to Liberty, and DE Sam Montgomery of Greenwood to North Carolina.

King is scheduled to visit Coastal Carolina and Newberry the next two weekends.

Boyd is scheduled to visit Appalachian State and Georgia Southern the next two weekends. He's also been contacted by Michigan State.

New Team Involved with Boyd

OL Malcolm Boyd (6-3 270) of Dorman is getting interest from the Big 10. Boyd, who is scheduled to visit Liberty this weekend, says he was contacted by Ted Gill of Michigan State this past Friday. "He told me they were looking for two more offensive lineman," said Boyd. "He said they heard about me and how I was being overlooked. They're going to contact me later this week to let me know if I have an offer." Boyd says they are taking film back to Lansing to evaluate him. If the Spartans offer, Boyd plans to except on the spot.

At least Wake appears out of the picture but we are a soft verbal at best against Appy & Geo Southern ...

Boyd had been waiting on an offer from Wake Forest but says that fell through. If the Spartans do not offer, he does not have a favorite of the other three on his list.
