Josh Barr wrote:QB Gets First Scholarship Offer

It was a busy weekend of football as the playoffs got into full swing across the region, but let's start today's posts with Brooke Point quarterback Brian Hudson picking up his first scholarship offer, from Liberty University.

Hudson had an impressive season, with 23 touchdown passes and just two interceptions for the Black-Hawks, but had a hard time attracting attention from college recruiters.

Liberty University has already received oral commitments from two Brooke Point High School football standouts.

But the Lynchburg school may not be done with the Black-Hawks.

Brooke Point running back Chase Barnett committed to the Flames in November, and recently he was followed by quarterback Brian Hudson.
Few more details ...
Hudson is the latest Black-Hawk to give his pledge to the Flames.

He completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,137 yards and 23 touchdowns, while guiding Brooke Point (9-2) to its second straight Commonwealth District title this past season.

Berry said Liberty was attracted to Hudson (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) because of his accuracy. The Flames showed interest all season long, but didn't submit an offer until coaches saw him in person in Brooke Point's regular season finale against Colonial Forge.

Hudson threw for 163 yards and a touchdown in that Brooke Point victory.

"That was the clincher for them," Berry said of Liberty.

He made some nice throws in those videos... Hope this kid pans out, he seems to have the right style or play to run a pro-style offense.

Hopefully he'll redshirt. Having 4 quarterbacks for next year, all of which have a case to be the starter, might be a little too much!

And could it be five? Kyle DeArmon should be in the mix as well... That's a lot of QB's trying to get the job!

Maybe Mike Brown should stay a receiver...

Many teams over-recruit QB's and then move them around...b/c in many cases they are the best athletes on their HS teams.

Ideally, you want to have at least one quarterback in every recruiting class.

Brooke Point quarterback Brian Hudson was a three-year starter for the Black Hawks who posted an impressive 25-8 record as the team's lead man under center. Hudson has made his college choice and will take his winning ways to an winning, "on the rise" in-state program...

I think our Top 3 QBs will be Landis, Brennan and either Brown or DeArmon with Hudson reshirting. Landis has shown he can run the offense capably, Brown can be a serious gamebreaker that could give D-coordinators nightmares much like guys like Armanti Edwards and Rodney Landers (shout out to JMUDukes with that one), and Brennan has a year learning the system so I think he will step in and make some noise in spring ball. if Brown ends up in more of a Slash-type role you could see DeArmon get more reps under center. That's my personal speculation though

Don't forget that Mr. Perry may sign as well. I love the fact that the most important postion on the field and one that the team has never really but fully stocked at is loaded for the next few year.

It would be nice to land Beecher, with this kid as his understudy for a year.
