Losers in 4 of the last five...should be the medicine need to heal our weekend wounds.

VMI is a very feast or famine team if you look at their results this year. I think if we play like we did at Williams Stadium last year this game will not be close. If we play like we did last weekend...this could get out of hand VERY quickly

I'm not sure how much relevance the Presby debacle has to this Saturday's game. VMI presents a totally different defensive challenge; hopefully one we are better equipped to handle. We should score a lot of points, and if we play disciplined assignment football defensively, we can stop them enough times to win a high scoring game.

we'll be there (9 or 10 family & friends)

from the vmi msg board
An item to note for visitors--Vice President Cheney will be on hand to review the Corps at the Saturday morning parade before the Liberty game.

I will be there as well with 6 or 7. Hey LCA Mom, where are you sitting. Hopefully you will sit on the side right behind Liberty's Bench and hope to see you there.

I'll be there with one other LU fan... and quite possibly one or two VMI grads. My VMI buddy says that we can split time in our opposition's camp. I expect they will be gracious, as he consorts with some admin types there at the school.
Since I've never been to an LU away game, is there usually a Liberty get together/tailgate? I've heard that there has been at some other away games.

The flames club will be there and I think it is $10 to get food before the game. As far as the Keydets, the do not like Liberty people at all. Depends on where you sit though.

You'll sit behind our guys. Their stadium is a home side and a vistor's side. It's one of my favorite places to watch a game from.

I agree SJ. VMI is always a good place to see a football or basketball game.

After watching that PC game - unless we change something quick - we are going to struggle to win another game this year.

I know that seems unfair, but every team will exploit us now and VMI has one guy that scares the heck out of me - Maypray.

That PC game was frustrating - not the players fault - IMO - the Coordinators fault. You have a freshman QB - you put him under pressure the whole game. You bump the WR and blitz the heck out of them - we over matched them on the line and we played 8 yards off the receivers giving them any route they wanted. We did it one series at the end of the first half and they went 3 and out. Offensively - we played like we were down by 20 - having Brock throw up balls - Jennings and the other running backs were getting 5-7 yards every run and we got so desperate towards the end of the game.

So true.

It's hard to rival VMI's atmosphere. They produce more noise with about 1/3 of what we bring out to our stadium. The last game vs. VMI in the Vines last year was probably one of the most intense games I've seen since I've been involved with LU.

VMI general runs an option style offense with Maypray getting the bulk of the yards. Doesn't throw much, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them throw in a new wrinkle or two this week. My best bet would be for the triple option of fullback-pitchman-QB keep to get a pass option added. When the CB comes up on the pitch man the QB pulls up and tosses it to the flat. I really think he'll get the option to throw this week even though in past weeks VMI has been content to live and die by the option.

VMI already has 19 posts (to our 16) about the game on Saturday. Here's a link to their message board, which Sly & Mansion have already visited: http://vmisports.proboards57.com/index.cgi

They have a throwing QB named Kyle Hughes who has been battling injuries.

Those guys on the VMI board are good people who are passionate about their program. They are also quick to point out that bobcatturner is NOT an alum.

Parking suggestion from an :oldhag : take a right just before you get to the basketball arena and drive up the hill and then park at the top of the hill at the elementary school. Sometimes Keydets in golf carts will even give you a ride down the hill.

We could have used ZT earlier but it will be great to have him back on the field.

It's going to be tough for opposing teams to defend both ZT and BJ Hayes coming out of the backfield. Should be fun to watch.
