Seems like we just completely out-matched them. The offense appeared plain with mostly smash-mouth ball with an occasional pass mixed in. Bolden made a great catch on a ball down the middle from Brock...great pair of hands. We handled them so well, the game really was not that exciting after the first quarter.

BTW...the BAND put on a tremendous half-time show. They have really stepped up their "game", too.

...some student WON the SFC promotion...made the XP and all THREE FG...blasting the last one from the 35 yard line...to win a CAR from the Mabry Group.

Now, if only Coach Rocco can talk him into giving up the car and sign him to a scholly...

yeah that kid who won the car was nails! a very nice performance indeed. solid on both sides of the ball. not terribly exciting and a lot of fans left early, but hey its a shutout, and a nice conference win!! now its time for lafayette!

The offense was strong, steady, and confident. The defense was beyond my expectations. The shut out tells the story. They were disciplined, in control, strong, and powerful. If this defense becomes our regular business each week, we are going to be hard to beat. Rocco wanted us to start out fast and strong; 6-0 is just that. I admit that I was a bit concerned about our ability to put teams away, but tonight - lights out. This was a well coached and played game for out team. Good job to everyone.

I stayed the entire game. Way to go boys! On an additional note, the band sounds 1000 times better than last year. Good job Dr.Kerr. However, whomever is picking the stadium music needs to be fired or returned to the 90's. Absolutely terrible.

Did anyone else think that the Baptist side was borrrrring today. It seamed was worse than usual. And I second the firing of the game music person. My wife and I were remembering all the songs from our high school years. That being said I had a great afternoon watching our guys get a shutout and the SeoulFlame clan stayed till the end. Fan the Flame!

One thing not in the blog that Chris may add tomorrow in his article is that BJ Hayes looked very good, as did Danny Broggin. The Rocco recruits that have been in the program 1-2 years but not appeared much on Saturdays are looking very good.

It wasn't just the Baptist side that seemed dead. The entire crowd did. I don't know what the deal was. I was there for the first quarter but then it seemed like I just checked out the rest of the game and went through the motions.

Thanks for the kind words FR. I know the band didnt play much in the stands but we had a performance at JF tonight so Dr Kerr wanted everybody to not use up everything playing at the game. It was a pretty good performance today that is for sure.

The crowd did seem pretty flat today (and the attendance was highly disappointing.)

How hard would it be for the people that we pay to announce our games, whether on TV or through the PA system, to learn how to properly pronounce our players' names? Is it really that hard?

The first two possessions of the game set the tone, as Liberty reeled off its 11th-straight victory and its fifth shutout under head coach Danny Rocco, when the Flames downed Stony Brook, 33-0, Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium.

The victory pushes Liberty’s record to 6-0 on the year and 2-0 in Big South play. The win extended the nation’s longest FCS winning streak and set a new program record, surpassing the previous mark set during the 1988 and 1989 seasons. The Flames have now won eight-straight Big South games, tying Coastal Carolina’s mark for consecutive league victories.

LU defense earns accolades of of its own

Liberty’s defense sat on the sidelines Saturday, watching the offense eat up more than nine minutes of the first quarter on its first drive. So when the chance came for the Flames to send Stony Brook a defensive message, safety Ryan Greiser jumped at the opportunity.

Seawolves quarterback Dayne Hoffman fired a pass over the middle to standout receiver Lynell Suggs, who pulled the ball down while in mid-air. Then came Greiser, flying over the middle. He crushed Suggs, and the ball came tumbling out of the receiver’s arms.

Those middle routes that were open last week at Coastal Carolina? Stony Brook wasn’t finding them Saturday at Williams Stadium. That play set the tone for Liberty’s 33-0 whitewashing of the Seawolves, a rude welcome to the Big South for the school from Long Island playing its first league game.

Kyle O’Donnell was only on the field for a handful of plays Saturday at Williams Stadium, but it was enough to help the sophomore linebacker shake off the some rust after a seven-week absence from the field.
