I know I'd really enjoy it if some of you guys on the conference call this week could post an audio file of CDB's coachspeak heading into Saturday's showdown. He's always entertaining.

Usher is out for another 5 weeks, and DD dislocated his elbow he might be gone for the season.

We thought we were having injury issues a few weeks ago. But the Chants are seriously getting dinged. But they still have plenty of talent to be dangerous Saturday.

It’s Coastal Carolina week at LU, but unlike last year, Flames coach Danny Rocco didn’t show up with red “Beat Coastal” t-shirts in tow. Still, he made an excellent point. For all the inroads the Flames have made nationally by beating Youngstown State, it really all goes for naught if Liberty doesn’t win the Big South Conference championship.

To inspire Rashad Jennings last week, Liberty football coach Danny Rocco showed his senior tailback video of the second half of the Youngstown State-North Dakota State game. Specifically, he wanted Jennings to watch North Dakota State tailback Tyler Roehl, who had missed the first half nursing an ankle injury.
“He was just a ball of fire,” Rocco said of Roehl, who like Jennings is a candidate for the Walter Payton Award. “He ran hard. I gave Rashad the DVD of the second half of the North Dakota State game, and it wasn’t just how hard the guy ran. He came off to the sideline, and they had pictures of him. He was pumped up. He was high-fiving his offensive linemen, high-fiving his coaches. This guy was the heart of that North Dakota State effort in the second half to get back in the game.
“I said, that’s what I need out of you Rashad. I need that type of spirit. And that’s what he gave us.”

Usher, O'Neal and MacDowall all could return

By Travis Sawchik - tsawchik@thesunnews.com

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina starting quarterback Zach MacDowall practiced Tuesday and said afterward that he felt "excellent." MacDowall said he felt healthy enough to play if the game were today.

Chanticleers coach David Bennett did not make a definitive statement on the playing status of MacDowall, starting running back Eric O'Neal or leading receiver Trent Usher. The three players have ditched walking boots at practice and look to have made significant progress with their sprained ankles.

Bennett said MacDowall looked OK, described O'Neal and Usher as still "hobbling" and added "thank goodness we have [three more days] of practice." Bennett said O'Neal is the most in doubt due to his position.

All joking aside, this game is huge. Whoever wins this game WILL win the conference championship. I don’t see us losing another conference game, and I don’t see Coastal losing 2 other conference games.

Liberty and Coastal both have 2 road, 3 home games in league. Both play at VMI, and Coastal gets GWU on the road.

Isn't it actually the other way around for Coastal -- 3 road, 2 home? I don't why they would get 4 conference home dates unless KK just loves them so freakin' much.
