Stupid people have been like
"Yo, when are we going D IA?
Everytime I hear someone saying crapola like that I laugh. -Hes just an idiot.
But within the past 3 weeks, since Walk On tryouts, I have heard from three people who tried out that Coaches told them we were moving up within two to three years. Again I looked at each of them(seperate occasions) like they were stupid. The problem is they were told it, not by students in the classroom, but by actuall university personnel. Three different players, all saying they heard it from a coach, at three different times.
Seriously, before someone posts baloney, why would a "misunderstanding" happen that much?

We all know where I stand. But perhaps they are referring to when the moratorium is lifted and we can begin the process of moving up. That by no means would mean that we would step up that quickly. But it might explain the talk.

Let's use common sense: could our stadium be expanded 1.5 times in two years? We don't even know what the criteria is going to be to go FBS so how can we plan for it?

Let's use common sense: If the football staff cant plan for it they wouldnt be telling players were going DIA anytime soon

I don't understand why people would be talking about moving up so soon. Maybe people have legitimately been talking about moving up. However, I think we should focus on making the playoffs and continuing the goal of building the program into a solid Big South power but not JUST a big south power, build the program into one that is always near the top of the national weekly polls. Make Liberty a powerhouse football program at this level. Lets have some success and get some national attention before we move up and have to go through taking our licks all over again when we start playing big schools every week. It's been my experience that people would rather be a part of a smaller school that wins and wins Big--national championships, etc, than a big school that loses.

I think our football program should try making the playoffs and then more importantly, WINNING a few playoff games before it worries about moving up. Personally, I just don't think moving up makes an awful lot of sense. Not now or ever. If the best teams in 1-AA have trouble being CONSISTENTLY competitive against I-A opponents, I don't know what would make anyone think Liberty would have different results.

Sly (or anybody)...how many PRIVATE schools have successfully made the jump from I-AA to I-A football? I know of at least 3 state supported schools (Marshall, MTSU, and UConn) that have had a degree of success....but not so much on the private schools.

Thats the thing I think its all agreed between us that staying put is the best scenario for us for a while. My question is why are coaches going around telling people were moving up anytime soon?

How do you know the coaches are saying that? How do you know it's not retarded kids hearing the wrong thing?
