Well, games like that can be good for you but they really didn't give me much confidence going up to YSU in 2 weeks.

Haters will say what they will about Kent and Brock...

But this team did what it took to win, despite shooting themselves in the foot over and over. Brock did well, a couple of drops ruined his numbers. Running backs did their thing. Defense was VERY good! This is encouraging!

I am happy with how they did, let's get healthy and get ready for Y'town.

Coach Rocco's comments in the post-game show:
We learned a valuable lesson tonight, in football, and also in life.

One goal this week: Get on the bus 3-0, and no one in America is happier than I am.

A Southern Conference win on the road...I'm very proud of these guys.

I'm glad you're not coaching our team.

I'm not sure what this love affair is all about but simply b/c someone is doing "better then before" yet still considered a bonehead doesnt mean we have to start slurping him!

BTW I think I'm still bitter about the past, and not saying that stuff b/c of tonite b/c I dont think he was that bad tonite.

I am happy that none of the idiots on this board are coaching the team.

I am not happy with everything. But we DOMINATED them statistically, got more yards, didn't give up many yards, held possession, and didn't have any turnovers. If we get a little more discipline and block for field goals better, we played a perfect game...

Probably that we didn't give up: that we bent but didn't break, as the cliche' goes.

Seriously. As good as he is I won't be too upset next year when he's not out there. You always have to keep one eye covered when they throw in his direction. One open to see him lay the wood, but the other one closed because it was after the play.

One positve note... a couple of years ago there was no doubt we couldn't win the close game. I think Coach Rocco's discipline and determination with the team shows up in wins like this. (despite the few "careless" penalties)

I missed the game but I am happy for the win. Just to get a win on the road against a team from the Southern conference is a great thing but by looking at the stats we should have won by a much larger margin and I am still not sure how good this WCU team really is or we just played subpar. Holding a team to 8 yards rushing and a little over 200 yards is great and I still can't get over how close the score was with that defensive effort. The road is always tough but it feels good to get a win and now we can take a week off, get healthy, work on improving things, and prepare for YSU.

Ok...so many that were THERE called this an ugly win, yet all we needed to do is block a little better and a few less penalties and we played a"perfect game"

I like your optimism though

I agree. I wasn't saying he is not a good player but why isn't he playing for Tech anymore?......

Dude, he has a "Illegal helmet contact" penalty, which is one of those random, subjective, stupid calls, and a Pass Interference call that was a bad case of home cooking.

He also had some key pass breakups.

If you actually stop and figure out what is ACTUALLY happening, instead of seeing a play by play and ignorantly assuming the worst, it's amazing the perspective you get.

Our special teams needs to take care of the kicker, I agree. We need to stop the stupid penalties. We do that, we can win in Youngstown.

Y'know, if they're going to play in Ohio anyway, it would be nice if it was somewhere close, so I could go to the game. Athens, or something like that. Or if they'd make another trip to Marshall ....

Look it is a good win cause it's an out of town out of conference win against a traditionally good team. But you have to know that we must do better as things go on to keep winning. We must cut the penalties and put the ball in the endzone. And say what you want, but they had Brock's number.
Hicks is scary!

Yes, it was an ugly game. That's what penalties and not blocking for the kicker looks like.

We were the dominant team out there, but you can think whatever it is that helps you sleep tonight.

That was one GREAT line....lol...I laughed hard...

I seriously dont see the talent being that much better....maybe I'm blind, and maybe I'm expecting to much out of him. Although is was considered to be one of the greatest High School athletes in the last billion years. I just cant get the W&M game out of my head when I was sitting in the stands watching them pick on him all nite.....a lock down corner closes one side of the field, not having people pick on you consistently

In the 35 year history of the Flames
football program, Liberty has posted a 9-25-1
in its first road game of the season, including
a setback in its last 10-straight road-opening
contest. Liberty’s last road-opening victory
was the Flames’ lone road win in the series
against Western Carolina, as Liberty defeated
the Catamounts, 17-10, in its first road game
of 1997 (Sept. 12). Since jumping to the
Division I level, Liberty is 5-15 in road-opening
contests.
Just so we know what we did tonight.

That was a FULL YEAR ago.

Did his man pick him apart today? When they had two playmaking receivers, and neither went off on us, save for ONE play (and I don't even know if it was Hicks' man or not...), the rest of the night was a TON of lock down, no room to run, force sacks and bad throw defense. So, he's not better? The D as a whole isn't better?

C'mon man...

Look at the stats and get your head out of the cool aid.
I LOVE Brock and think he is going to lead us to the playoffs this year, but tonight was not his best night. Therefore, the Defense made things hard on him.

I think this was more of a run oriented game than passing b/c that is what Rocco wanted.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
